They do pay OT but there hourly pay is about 5 to 6 bucks less than OD and estes and the pension is screwed. If your dead set on union go to ABF or UPS freight.

Ah I gotcha. I don’t really care if it’s union or not it just seemed like the best deal. Didn’t know it was that much lower hourly. OD is another company I had in mind as well.

Low man equals less work? Well I got offered a job at union LTL carrier. I'm on the fence about what I should do because TM told me I most likely will be working every weekend and who knows for how long. I only want 35-45 hours a week. I wouldn't mind the lower hours at all I just don't want to deal with weekends. The union is great for benefits but the pension situation is a big deal to me. If the pension was still alive I'd happily do weekends until something better came up hours-wise...

If you have an ABF around your area they are union and don’t work weekends at the terminal by me. Don’t know for sure if it’s like this at all terminals.

Yeah I'm in Tampa I will ask around...going to flag a driver down next time I see one...because that's everything to me!

    Thank you for the info!

Well unfortunately it looks like they are open weekends because I saw an ad that mentioned must be willing to work weekends...but that's for a part time position so maybe ABF hires out part time help to cover weekends....I am hopeful

Some of the senior guys will jump at weekend work, but in the event that none of them do and there’s a run that has to go, low man with book time left gets drafted.

Time left on your log, either for the day or week.
