Actually the map data is NavTeq. The software to read the data and display is made by the individual company. Every company has slightly different routing and restriction policies depending on how they wrote the specific software.

A little bit off topic but I like to have a camera separate from the GPS. In a combo unit if one function breaks you lose both the GPS and the camera in one cell swoop.
The other issue is I like to mount the cam up high and GPS way down low. That's just me though. YMMV
edit: Garmin is the Gold Standard in GPS. All others are runners-up. Fact -
I used my dezel 2 times then took out of truck. Sends you waaaaayyyyyyy out of the way. I use google maps on my phone.

Get a 770 or 780 and you won't have issues.Timin770 Thanks this.

It errs on the side of caution because you are in a semi. If it is not sure it won't send you down a street not marked for trucks. I have been on many streets and the Garmin will put a caution up about this. You can call their customer service and tell them the issue and they will check it out. They have fixed every correction I have called in. They don't know unless you tell them. They get mapping from a 3rd party.Timin770 Thanks this.
