Yes and no. A 2 minute violation is nothing really. Yes you might get a ticket, but as long as you are respectful you likely will get nothing more than "Don't make a habit of it." lecture. Both from the company and from an officer. That's if you even get pulled over in the next 7 days....
Even if you get a ticket, it's only a violation. It's not like its a false log entry. (I.E. Lying)

Well see, if you will look at things with a little common sense, you'll find that you are allowed to travel to a safe haven if you are out of time due to unforeseen circumstances.7-UP, Al. Roper, 4mer trucker and 1 other person Thank this.

Two little minutes.
HA.
What I am more worried about is you living in fear looking over your shoulder until the boom is lowered by the Feds for this truly serious violation. //end sarcasm.
Document it, who told you no problem inside your company and when, what time and how etc. and move along with your evening libations now that you are in the 34 hour rest until next week. -
This is the only time I've ever had a violation. One thing I take serious is my logbook. I use to be a commercial pilot prior to losing my Class I medical to eyesight. I treat my logbook as if the FAA could look at it and trust me they are way worse than DOT. I even log the minutes I'm sitting on the CAT scale weighing my truck

When
I've truly had the feds look at a logbook before. Anytime your involved in any kind of incident flying an aircraft trust me you dont want the feds digging. They will find something. Wouldn't that be the case with DOT?x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Depends on who gets you. Most arent gonna say anything about 2 minutes I guarantee thatAl. Roper and 4mer trucker Thank this.

Really? Where in the law does it state that?
-
DOT is not FAA. Enjoy your day. Ive for a couple hours myself but nothing that will be official.
-
I'm still waiting for more info on that "50 mile rule". lol
ZVar Thanks this. -
Your correct. However, let's say I was involved in an accident. DOT will certainly ask for my logbook. If they dont let's say the person files a suit the lawyers most certainly will ask for it. So even though 2 minutes may seem like nothing in reality for me it is a big deal. Again since I was a pilot I just know when bad things happen the first thing they ask for is your logbook. That's part of the reason they tell you to never carry it with you and always have a lawyer review it first if asked for it
