Don't be too sad.......Ive done it twice
-
What happened, scored liner?
-
Something broke up top. I haven't got it home yet to get it apart, but it sounds like a broken wrist pin or piston in the 2nd cylinder.
-
pics would be educational when its pulled up
-
Dropped valve.

For me the first time was a cracked liner on #4 and I think due to a poor rebuild the second time was due to fretting on #1 liner and blown head gasket because of low (.002) liner protrusion.
-
I've heard CAT has a problem with setting the liners too deep. Does anyone know what the difference is between CAT specs & what they should really be to keep from blowing head gaskets?
-
CAT spec is .001 to .006 mine is now at .006 as a few of the techs on here have said it should aways be at .005 to .006 no matter what HP,BUT never over .006 as it will damage the liners.
dgabel03 Thanks this.
