A steel wheel is a formed piece of metal with a center welded in. Aluminum is a forged one piece. I have never seen a steel wheel new or old balance out better than a aluminum. The steel is not what I think of as round. Its close enough. Then its multiplied by putting cheap tires or recaps on. When the foundation of your tire and wheel package is out of round its next to impossible to compensate with balancing even with a premium tire. If that makes sense. Your driving on eggs, ovals, not circles.

I will say If you wanna save money watch the fleets. Not saying its the best or will work for your operation. But they know what cost effective, trust me. Super singles are more efficent and lighter. Suck in snow, suck in a blowout. I wont run them. But they are cheap till you have a road service bring one out. For one tractor I think it will off set any saving to fast. But hands down cheaper to operate. Notice alot of fleets have gotten away from them. They bought in on black and white print that they would say money and do. Long term I bet its not so good.

@snowman Here is one to fire you up. I only run 90 psi in my tires too.

    Or both ?
    Sacrilegious bastige ?
    Or worse ?

Too cheap to pay for the extra psi ?
Wow ! Too much wear and tear on the compressor ?
