I prefer the nice flat eastern shore, thank you. ;)

I prefer to be able to see the enemy approaching from as far away as possible.

I have noticed the caliber of drivers in my field of work is aging fast or young and arrogant. I can count on one hand with digits left over how many good young drivers I have meet in heavyhaul....maybe it's just me and my( everyone is an idiot attitude), I just don't know? I sat here in this truck stop last night observing people......I'm disappointed in what I see or heard. Except for one boy parked beside me pulling a flat. He got out this morning and opened his hood. Checked his oil, looked at everything under the hood, walked around his ride and inspected it, checked lights and let the engine warm up before sticking it in gear. Then did something that impressed me. He rolled forward bout 10 ft and pulled his trailer trolley to test his trailer brakes........maybe there is hope after all !.......morning rant over time to hit it. I'm out.

I know, two younger men that wanna work for me. One used to work in a shop with me, the other I know his family. Farm kid, that can drive, weld, and fab. Both great guys. Couldn't ask for better listeners, willing to learn and hard workers. The one is no ball of fire but a good steady worker. I have told them both that I would hate for their lives to be ruined. One works at decent fleet shop job and wife and kids. The other works the RR. He hates being the young guy at RR and wanted to quit. Me and his father sat him down and told him that putting up with that RR job might in the long run be best. He could have full retirement at 51 years old. There are some great young men out there. Just hard to find.
