Mike Rowe is the man.
The school by us is under construction to have a “agriculture science technology engineering and mechanical” program. I think that’s gonna bring a lot to our youth. Teach them real #### to live by vs learning theory and philosophy. We need that too- but not nearly as much as we need DOERS in this world. Whole lotta hand holding and ever body needs college. College don’t put up a new power pole. College don’t run water lines.
College don’t drill wells.
College ain’t a bad thing; but it’s pretty ####in far from the only thing or the best thing for most people.

Mike Rowe is great...
I ALMOST got to meet him when I went to Kansas City for SkillsUSA. Bad faith and some #### luck ruined that opportunity but all is well.
He gave a really good speech at the awards ceremony... I can’t remember any of it word for word but I do remember it resonating with me for a few months afterwards. Maybe there’s a video of it somewhere...Al. Roper, catalinaflyer, 1951 ford and 21 others Thank this. -
In all honesty I had a chance to go to OSU ATI for dairy science, I friends mom was a big wig at a factory and they did alright. She wanted him to go to college, no one in their family ever had. She offered to pay for our room and board if we went, it was a 2 year program with no prerequisites. We talked about it but decided against it. I wish I would have because I could have stayed involved in the dairy industry. My younger buddy went and he turned down several great opportunities to stay on the farm.

Yep, Did a lot of split rims. But by then dad had all budd wheels. 20 lug nuts to a set, breaker bar and T handle taking them off and Torque wrench them on. No big air wrench ever. Bad thing was he had some nice well taken care of equipment. When nothing was broke, you had to polish and clean Aluminum. Two sets of Aluminum doubles and Two spreads. Everything on aluminum Budds at one point. #0000 steel wool by hand. 158 tires to be checked, So thats like 43 outside wheels to clean.Al. Roper, catalinaflyer, 1951 ford and 16 others Thank this. -

Never met the man face to face.
Never seen the truck,
I assumed this pic is his truck...
This truck in the foreground is a 359.
All day long, twice on Sundays and any other day that ends in "y"...
He seems like a multiple truck guy, but this is what I based my assumption on.
I see the 379 in the background, just never paid it any attentionLast edited: Feb 2, 2019
