Wanting to put together a 3406 for my truck, 1000+ hp, needing to know what would be needed to get it there and what I would have to do with other components to make sure that I don't mess anything up when hauling ##*. Any help would be appreciated!

I can’t help you out much on your CAT and getting huge power from it.
BUT,
What I can do is this, Call Pittsburg Power cause apparently they are the diesel power people and before the end of this thread, someone will tell you to call them.
So, I figured I would give you a leg up and tell you early!!!!
But seriously, Good luck with your project truck!!D.Tibbitt and Stupidpete Thank this. -
Check out adept ape on YouTube.
He is a Cat mechanic and has a multitude of videos on different Cat engines.D.Tibbitt, Stupidpete and Wannabe tech Thank this. -
That channel's helped me out alot too!D.Tibbitt and Stupidpete Thank this.

Thank y'all! I've seen a couple of his vids before but it has been a while so I will definitely go back. Anything on suspension and drive line areas though?

I cant help ya at all , but 3406 is my favorite engine and am
Ny project truck thats gettin one i definatly wanna tune in n see , i definatly got my eyes and ears on for this -
If you want that kind of horsepower you want marine parts, marine cam, injectors, pistons rods. Call your local Cat marine dealer, I live on the water and met a mechanic was installing two cat marine engines. They were smaller blocks 3306 I think, 800hp and 3200rpm. Hope you have a lot of money. Watched a video on youtube the other day and PDI had the hot setup for intake and turbo. The exhaust manifolds are made out of a special steel that doesn't crack when it expands due to heat and hp= heat. The turbo is made out of stainless and machined for better flow. Just Google PDI, I think they're in Missouri.Don't know much about ECUs and if you ask on here, half say PP is good the other half hate them. Me, I couldn't tell you. Best thing to do is call and find out for yourself.Good luck with your project and like I said, hope you have a lot of cash.

If you just Google high-performance 3406 caterpillar you'll come up with different sites you can talk to people about it.
PP is one option but only one option. They are very expensive and if you look around you can probably get the information you need elsewhere. Although I'm sure they could help you build a motor to do what you're looking for. -
3406 is a mechanical injected engine, it was the first made of that series, some people call it 3406A because then came the 3406B, but there was never an A , just plain 3406, there's a few old school mechanics left that can help but you get 1000 hp out of it and if you do will not be to easy to work every day with, I will not go to PP period, ask around you would pay a lot and the results could be all over the place, be careful.

I don't know if I'd try and make big power with a 3406. The 3406B would be a better starting point IMO.
