1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. I need someone with some real information and resources to please help me out. I will have my CDL in about a week. Grad from Baker College in Cadillac, MI. So far Werner, Swift, Crete and most other large companies tell me no because of my location. That is all ok but someone somewhere has to be able to take me on. I have several certificates from The Michigan Center for Truck Safety, the program was 6 months long, and my GPA is around 3.80.

Can anyone help me with what I need?? I know someone here has the knowledge and know how for what I need.

Honestly I feel Michigan is in such bad shape it might not hurt to try to look in other areas. Even though I am in south east Mi I plan on relocating out of Mi soon as i get a chance. The number one reason is lack of work and the number 2 reason is i can go to a state that has a lower state income tax.

Sorry i couldn't be more helpful. I hope you find something soon.

    Best of luck.

    xtrain,

I too will have my CDL A in a week from a Baker facility in SE MI. I was told by Roehl, KLLM, Stevens, and a couple others, that they were not hiring from MI. So I asked if I were to apply again with an Ohio address, my daughter lives in Cincinnati, would they consider me. They said yes. So if you have friends or family in a nearby state try again. Then when hired, if OTR, ask your driver mgr for your home time to be routed to MI, or as close as possible.

I was going to do this very same thing, the outfit i was going to lease to, said it was ok, as long as my CDL was out of Iowa. The deal was, Arizona was to far west, but i asked about Iowa, they said yes, as long as my CDL was issued out of Iowa at time I leased on. Since then, I found out I wasnt going to be layed off from my current job, so I wont be taking it.
