I just started back working with these folks i used to work for a couple years back they put me in a 95 volo n14 cummins and 9 speed for some reason you have to throw the shifter in and out with a alot of force and this is a problem for me as i was taught to roll the stick into gear with finger pressure anybody ever have issues like this?

Could be a number of things. Twisted mainshaft, seizing shift rails etc.

Yeah kinda was afraid of that
Thanks makes sense cause they told me they replaced this gearbox before but they went with one from a salvage yard just don't want it messing up with me in the future but i know they won't replace the one in it now until it fails i might just double clutch her and try to be as gentle as possible

Had a truck that did that once. Refuses any shift I try to make, nice, rough, light or heavy. The only way to shift was to bury the clutch (Floor boards and Clutch Brake be ######) elbow the thing into any gear and pull.

Many months later it finally did fail. And when it did it refused any input of clutch, locked me out and pulled about a 10 foot wheelie and slammed back down just before it crushed the 20 foot canopy above the fuel line. When it came down and hit thats when it really broke. Right in both of them axles in the center housing to start off. There was no rears left to speak of, nor any transmission worth a #### and other associated damage. Essentially totaled because it refused to allow the clutch to come out when it was supposed to.

To this day Im not aware of the extent of the damage but a month later they had it back on the route with me in it. They should have junked it but displayed sheer stubborness instead of good business sense. That was when I started looking to get out of that work. The truck itself finally failed pernamently some time after I left. I still don't know the whole story. But it was something else.

It's unfortunate. I like my equiptment in good order and to this day would pretty much turn in a sick truck to the shop to fix. If they cannot or will not fix it then they can find some other chump to stick into it.

If I had anything bad about myself it will be very simple. I don't need many months of abuse in a bad truck to understand I am the stupid one to endure that kind of crap.
