I already think otherwise but at least you believe in me...

How is that crazy? Who wants to handle 5 or 6 different chains? Its more than legal and exceptable. I will tell you this. The reason a lot of fleets want snaps is because you can over tighten with ratchets and they idiot proof their rules so they can terminate you for not following them. Now if thats what your employer wants that's what they get. But I don't drink anyones Coolaid. I also don't load two coils in center of trailer like TMC. I don't care what they weigh. That is dumb. Second I chain stuff in the event I am not here when they clean it up its still respectable. I want them lifting the coil out of the ditch with a 5x8 section of deck chained to it, if need be. Read your green book. Dont ever let some company office hack convince you otherwise. Learn and make your own choice, its your life or could be.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 6, 2019

Current situation, one of the last spots without a reserve sign...... -
Relax my friend. I know why you do it and I know it’s legal by the book.
Melton runs only snaps. A lot of my habits are from Melton and my trainer there. Everything from how I ride down the road to my securement — for a long time — was by his standards and new tricks I learned along the way.
On coils, especially suicide, I throw chains per weight. Period. 5k per chain over 25k. No excuses. Don’t care what the chain has for WLL. 45k coil? 9 chains. That doesn’t meet Melton’s truck Lines policy... like I said... tips and tricks, I leaned some stuff on the way.
Snaps are my preference as of right now. I’ve used a ratchet binder a whole two times... never felt right. Some day I’ll transfer over and use a mix of both, I’m sure of it, doubtful that day will be tomorrow. This two binder one chain method however will be difficult with snaps. I already know it. So I may just have to suck it up and grab another four chains from the rack. -
You pulled straight in?!?!?!
Rookie. -
Not taken as a put down, nor was my reply a put down. Before that gets going. -
Not sure which way I’m going to be honest. I’m in Jersey now at a TA, got my Keystone drops off today, drop in Jersey tomorrow.
