Wal-Mart ran those m11’s in the cab overs. That how international was able to make them a flat floor. Rated at 400 ponies I think. I worked on a heap of m11’s too. They weren’t too bad. But the L10 was like a 318 mopar, no power but would run forever

The new X12 Cummins is based on the M11, and can be set to 500/1700, and apparently is pretty beast for such a tiny motor.BigBob410, BigCam9670, ShooterK2 and 16 others Thank this.

One of the downfalls.... 400 ponies.
Not always good to try and put 10 lbs of mud in a 5lb bag. Everything has limitations.BigBob410, BigCam9670, ShooterK2 and 17 others Thank this. -
Yeah you're right @Humblepie I remember working on those in the flat floor. They did have some with N14, but had a weird oil pan and no Jake brake on top. I only seen a couple with a N14 tho
The engine set real low down in the frame on those 9800 flat floors. The drive shaft actually went upwards as it went towards the rearend. It sucked doing any kind of starter, air compressor or front cover work on them cause of the frame being right there that's for sure.tony97905, BigBob410, BigCam9670 and 18 others Thank this. -
When I was with R&L Drilling we bought a 89 S2300 with a 270 L10. Was an old Budweiser tractor single axle. I stretched it out and put a 20 foot flat bed on it with a 10,000 lbs lift knuckle boom behind the cab. Load it till you couldn’t get anything on it then hook a Sullair 750 to the back of it. For what it was it did great. It had a 10 speed, first trip it went to Evansville, IN. Only dropped one gear all the way from WV, that was just after rolling into Indiana. Good engines.BigBob410, BigCam9670, ShooterK2 and 16 others Thank this.

I remember when Volvo first came out with the vn? I think that was the one right after the wia model. They had the engine slung low in the frame. They claimed that in the event of a crash the engine would push down and go under the cab instead of the driver compartment.BigBob410, BigCam9670, ShooterK2 and 16 others Thank this.

Probably has some better components than the M11, time will tell what it’s made of.
