HVAC is a good trade everywhere. Hot or cold. Trucking may slow, but it never stops. No one makes anything without the products or supplies.
So if the economy slumps...

I deliver milk to Walmart’s with an electric pallet jack, that counts right? Also I’ve done Pepsi and sysco before I really wouldn’t want to go back but if I absolutely had to then I would. I did beach area for Sysco and was all over the place for Pepsi and the plus side is you get fed very well at some of those good stops.
bentstrider83 Thanks this. -
I would explore options within my current employer with our other divisions (hauling Milk, Mail or OTR) before I explored Food Service. I am coming to despise people in general.
The older I get. The more I enjoy the peace and quiet of being in the truck alone.Coover, speedyk, MACK E-6 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Seems like one of the few trades where one gets to work indoors for the most part. Now to find a reputable shop to get the process started!!
Current company is kind of limited in their haul. It's either coming to "loading milk", or "extreme OTR" of food grade. But yeah, the long vast stretches of roadway one could travel before hitting a scalehouse or dealing with a shipper/receiver(or none if you're strictly line-haul and dealing only with terminals) is an ideal. -
You must not drive by any farms. I regularly drive through farmlands and watch workers picking crops and chopping sugar cane by hand in humid South Florida heat. Food service would feel like a vacation to them.Rideandrepair and bentstrider83 Thank this.

HVAC involves fixing a/c units on roofs / attics. Furnaces in freezing cold. Freezers with ammonia units if you want to make the big bucks. Lots of freezing and sweating on that job
MidWest_MacDaddy and MACK E-6 Thank this. -
Yea I’m the same way I haul gas first station out is closed that’s a plus and even when they open I do very little interaction with people pull in line up stick tanks drop fuel leave

Yes in tourism taxes. Things like extra taxes on hotel rooms and car rentals. Amusement parks/disney snd so on. Those don't effect residents 99% of the time.
-
What these have in common is that they are USE/CONSUMPTION taxes. Those that use them get taxed for their use.
As it should be. IF you don't use something, you shouldn't have to pay for it. Those who consume more pay more.spyder7723 Thanks this.
