DOT Physical question

A DOT med card from a DOT registered examiner is good for up to two years. If the company sent you for an exam to get a new card, You should submit the new one to your DMV.

 

Your latest exam supersedes your previous one. Also, you're only allowed one card in the truck. If DOT finds you have two in the truck, you might be liable for a fine.

 

You are good. In the future, I suggest you make sure to note on the new physical long form you have a current physical. This alerts the new examiner that you have one and saves you from losing both for doctor shopping. As to your question the FMCSA only allows one active physical to be in the system. Once the last physical was entered into the database it killed the first one.

Now if I am misunderstanding your question and you are asking about a non-DOT physical then yes your old card is still good.

 

I used to carry the original 2 year or whatever it was as a strict defense against bungled Physicals as happens from timt to time.

To learn that the original effort is "killed" int he system when you present the second one...

IF physicals are treated with respect that Drivers Licensing is treated with these days, then it should ut way down on the driver exams.

The reason I am difficult about those things is because no one in the Industry respects those physicals that already exist and are valid. Why do we even bother spinning forms, wasting doctors time, throwing money around buying Apena crap and so on so forth etc.

 

Yes,toss the old one...its not important anymore.

 

Submit your new one to the DMV and go with that one.
