As much as I liked the CAT c15 I honestly can say I wouldn’t build a glider with one unless I found a true low mileage core to start with.. I know quite a few guys who had higher mileage rebuilds keep going through head gaskets and or injectors on warranty .. unless you have a great core most rebuilds are stuff that was tossed away a decade ago instead of rebuilding

That's was one of my concerns when buying my new truck. It's a roll of the dice on what the core engine you get has been through when doing a glider.
If the 565/2050 x15 in my 389 doesn't have tons of emissions related problems I'll be happy. I pull a landoll and haul trucks and equipment and am usually at or near 80K gross and this thing pulls as good as my deregulated 2010 C15 W900L. I'm a happy camper so far.

Just dont idle the motor for hours at a time and you'll be fine.

Well the new trans are crap they steal your power go get in a truck with a older trans and youll see

Also x15 has horrible fuel mileage

All emmisions engines are why do u think we got crappy trans cause the dpf is stealing your mpg they had to change it to get better than 4mpg

Also sharp looking pete although 1 suggestion get some after market 359 or 379 head lights just my oppenion

All of this is my oppenion so if u like the x15 more than c15 thats your oppionion every motor has a fluke

    Idk why but....
How exactly do the new trans rob all your power?

Also maybe you want to completely form your thoughts and put them all in one post instead of multuple ones cluttering up the thread.

Uhh ive driven a rig remember a 12.7 detriot 470 hp 13 speed and also look up adept ape youve never even talked to me in person and also the new trans have (in a 10 speed) the last 2 gears are way larger 9 and 10 run a much lower rpm than the old trans if you drive a old rig then a new rig youll see the difference. I know my stuff i research all the time any body here now how to turn up a 3406b I DO ive ridden 40k miles in a rig look at my profile pic the guy who owns the trucks had all 379s with cats and 18 speeds never had a engine problem in the rigs we ran(break down) one was losing power it needed a rebuild but 1.1 million miles will do that to a rig im not some dumb 12 year old and if u can find a driver as good as my dad who by the way has 20+ years of experience and is a trainer at a trucking school and they have a high success rate better than most he knows his stuff so yeah i listen to what he says and also he learns alot of stuff from the shop TECHS they have a diesel tech program.
I watch adept ape (diesel mechanic) smart trucking (a good old driver have learned alot from that) all my life all ive ever wanted to do is drive a rig so maybe i cant drive one on the road but if i could i #### sure would and i bet if it were legal for me to get a license i would have one i would work my ### of for one OK so before you go calling me another dumb 12 year old who doesnt know his stuff maybe u should ask some more about me instead of saying oh hes just a 12 year old what the hell does he know i have tough skin but it sure as hell is getting worn thin by you guys so please for christ sakes listen to what im saying i have proof in fact this weekend for the first time in months i get back in a rig it has a c15 1.4 million miles no rebuild yet hauling 85k of wood pelets since its agracutural we have some perments and would u like to see my reading material this week ill post a pic

Here it is, also i have a practice test ill do after i finish reading a second time.

Just please stop dismissing me cause my age i mean we all have to start somewhere.
I try to put all my thoughts into onr post but then 5 min later i go hey what about this

Back to the topic lets compare engine to engine not def vs non def or better trans
Ok so the c15 pros: battle proven and in the right hands a amazing engine. Can go over 1 million miles without rebuild(ill try to grab a pic while im on road of odomiter if i remember),good fuel milleage and power) cons: In the wrong hands it is a dog when it is run in high rpms it isnt meant to be run in a high rpm range i suggest no more than 1600 because from there torque has started deminishing and the engine like lower rpm. Price cats are more expencive to rebuild or repair but again repair is not needed if the driver takes care of the engine sadly most drivers lack this skill and most inexperience guys havnt learned this skill yet(i know im not very easy on equipment but im still LEARNING at least im not as bad as SWIFT LMAO). On to the x15
Pros: Not proven but has good reliabilty if driven correctly and if it has a apu (if u have a apu you dont need to idle to have heat lol) it should last you well. It has a good amoun of power (but it cant be used sadly)
Cons: horrible fuel mileage without a newer trans thank you very much dpf
Not very proven so it might have more issues later on in life. Has had many recalls.
Im not a CAT fan boy i think there trucks sucked but then again navistar is really to blame CAT should have stayed away from them. I love 60 series 12.7 detriots and the 3406 engine line up along with the C series engines i like n14s if you get the good ones. Pre isx was the best time for engines no emissions crap. Cat,detriot, and cummins all had good motors. So i think its one of those do what you want i think a cat c15 with a 18 and 3.55 rears and correct tires will out pull any new emissions choked off engine with these crappy transmissions and please no body give me that climate change BS.

ALSO DONT DISRESPECT ME OR MY FATHER HE DESERVES GREAT RESPECT HES A HELL OF A DRIVER AND A VET HE WAS IN THE GULF WAR AND HAD BEEN IN SEVERAL DANGEROUS SITUATIONS AND HAD A GUY ROLL A TRUCK BEFORE WHILE HE AND OTHER MARINES WERE IN THE BACK SO IF BEFORE YOU DISRESPECT SOMEBODY YOU SHOULD KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT THEM.

TRUCKER BORN TRUCKER BREED AND WHEN IM GONE ILL BE TRUCKER DEAD WHAT DO YA THINK OF THAT.
dont worry im done now it just pisses me off when people judge me cause my age. Ive got some trucker storys of my own ive seen cars drag racing on the shoulder (long story)
And ive been flipped off by moped maniacs
Even though its there falt they wont let us out our ending lane again long story correction im not done yet

Ive learned stuff over time i learned the first time i drove use your foot wear to your advantage i wear cowboy boots so i use the heel to help me pivot instead of trying to put steady pressure on the pedal first time i drove it was like that seen from that sylvester stalone trucking movie when the kid was driving the shaking only i didnt grind i double clutched except once but it did go into gear without a grind. Point is i already have more experiance than most idiotic 4 wheelers i mean thats gotta count for something right ive been in rigs since i was a baby first time i rode for a long distance was when i was 5 and that was on the weekend 400 miles per day i did that for 5 years so ive got a little experience under my belt no where near you guys but hey im not allowed by the federal gov to drive a truck on the roads so i get stuck sitting around reading stuff about trucks learning things about rigs and gettig ready for the day i buy my rig and hit the road when my wheels hit the pavement im gonna run that truck like hell and grind and save and save and for a change save might even partner with my best buddy his dad (now disabled) was a diesel mechanic he has a intrest in trucking so maybe well both buy rigs and start a company who knows but i can tell you 1 thing for sure IM DETERMIND TO BUY A RIG AND START A COMPANY i know not to buy a new rig and i also dont intend to run 24/7 or run months at a time but i figure 5 days a week and use the weekends to fix my rig or repair my next rig except for saterday GOD commanded to take the 7th day for rest and sunday is the technical 1st day of the week so saterday ill take as my day off and use that day for play rest of the time its fix or ride like the wind the devil rides on a idle horse (guess thats why idleing is bad for your engine lmao). I know this has nothing to do with 6nz vs x15 but hey im bored and well i wana clarify somethings and make sure you under stand im not just some kid who listens to truckers and has seen no proof ive seen proof ive lived proof lol and yes im still pissed bout the 12 year old cracks and i expect a appology for those false BS claims thats a sore spot for me and i also live by the words of john wayne so if you disrespect me or disgard me cause my age i take that as a insult and i dont take insults from people or i raise hell over it !!! Im resonable but i dont take #### from people i stand up for myself and when you insult me, and also my father because you assume what he says is false it pisses me the hell off and i try to watch my mouth but i can only take so much and that like ive said over and over thats a sore spot for me. Also second time i drove went alot smoother i learned from my mistakes i bet none of you drove perfect the second you sat your ### in the seat and guess what neither has any other trucker and neither have I so before you go insulting me for being green remember you were once green. REMEMBER YOU WERE ONCE NOT A EXPERIENCED DRIVER WITH HUNDREADS OF THOUSANDS OF MILES BEHIND THE WHEEL. Maybe instead of pushing me aside maybe have a real discussion thats what i wanted before you began your jokes and attacks on me. I know ive taken up pages but i cant help i have to explain my life just cause im not a million mile driver.

Also its who rebuilds it and what you change everything can wear out.
