Well it does work, we call a couple of agents and say hey you got that load i hauled next week and they say hey yea and they call me when they get it. The biggest problem here at landstar right now is cheap freight and i think they need to give us that 2 percent back that they took 5 years ago away from us.

Quit taking a percentage of stuff they aint got no business in taking part of. This is no place for the new o/0 ...and you can't be lazy or you just won't make it.

It was a lot longer ago than 5 years ago when they took the 2%, closer to 20 years ago.

If shes talking about the 2% right off the top, it was only a cpl years ago they stopped doing that.

This is if your talking about what I think your talking about?

How do I know? I used to be amazed and amused, now I'm dazed and confused. They started taking the 2% in the eighties. The reason given was it was a surchage to due to the increase in insurance costs. It seemed to me a better way to recoup costs was to raise rates. I've heard that now instead of paying 98% of 75% they pay 100% of 73% which is a tad better for them, a tad worse for O/Os.

Just curious, are the agents initials P.R. and female?

What's the difference of just signing on with LS and using that agent all the time?

Agent would still get his cut?

Seems like he could manipulate the rate even more if you were signed on with him.

That could be true . He could have accounts with shippers that pay a better than average rate . Sign with him and you'll get more loads from those shippers . Sign with Landstar and you would get more lowering paying loads . Just saying it's possible . See if he will let you talk to a few drivers signed with him .
Similar situation . I drive for an affiliate of Quality Carriers . Our trucks only service a handful of shippers , all dedicated runs . I know we get more miles and better pay than most Quality drivers or O/O's .

I figure some how this agent is taking landstar out of the deal and that's why he wants you to sign on with him. otherwise I'm not sure how it would help him out.

And yea i was talking about that 2 percent they added for insurance. but also they have a diff pay rate now for new hires. Were still on the older rate. when i want to figure out what we make i do the rate times 65.66

That agent is BSing you. You will still be leased to LS and getting your freight from that agent.

There are a lot of their agents that don't post their loads.
