Thanks, I live in Iowa and was just wondering about companies in my area. I am planning on going to a driving school at a community college. Looking for the info on companies before recruitors start talking. This forum helps a bunch. Thanks to everyone.

i thought "PAM" bought out decker...........???
if so, you'd probably be applying to PAM, and not decker........
here's the link, PAM does own Decker.
P.A.M. Transportation Services Inc. - Our Service Makes the Difference
now i'm confused, i just found this Decker, so this must be the one you are refering to.

Look into Davis Transport Rhey are an extremly good flatbed Company and they have a terminal in Iowa I think. Welcome To Davis Transport, Inc. - Missoula-based Trucking Company. Quality, Reliability and Experience.
Id recomend them to anybody, They have a great safety rating and wont settle for less than your best. -
PRO , I was talking about the second Decker site you found. I don't know about the PAM thing either. I know the Decker in Fort Dodge has been there for years so I don't know if PAM is involved also or not. Anyway, they advertise a heck of a sign on bonus so was curious about them. Reading the threads about companies and sign on bonuses I may stay away.
OTR, Your right about Davis, they do have a terminal in Ia. May look some more. Thanks for the replies. Take care -
PRO, It's two different Deckers. I went to the PAM site. The Decker on there is in New Jersey. So PAM must own that one. The one I was referring to is based out of Fort Dodge Ia. The also have a terminal in Birmingham AL. I think and also probably a couple others. Take care.

I'm not sure what you heard about sign on bonus' but I see no reson why you would stay away from a company who offers one. The company I drive for offered a bonus in 4 parts. I have received the first 2 without a hitch. I do not expect any problems with the next 2. If the company is going to be dis-honest with you, they are going to do so with, or without a promise of a bonus. If everuy thing you have learned about Decker seems to fit your expectations, make a decision based on your best information. Good luck with whatevere you decide.

DeputyDog, Someone on here was mentioning if companies are offering big sign on's, they probably have high turnovers or something to that extent. I don't know either way. I do now that just about every company I have looked into or seen advertisements for are offering them, so I'm getting to think that all companies are now doing that. I will definently keep an open mind and listen to what everyone has to say. As I have no experience, I'm pretty sure that I will probably end up with a company that may have a so-so reputation, but am aware I have to pay my dues which I am prepared for. Just trying to get as much info as possible to make the best decision. Take care

yep, i know its two (2) different companies.............(when i did my searching, i found that out too......)
it can be somewhat confusing at times when someone asks a question about a particular company too, when more than one company has the same name........
the Fort Dodge, Iowa company is a "stand alone" company, and PAM transport has nothing to do with that one.........
