Where is everyone #5

Got asked to run 2 generator trailers 360mi to Pilot Point Tx.

I'll have to use one of the trucks that doesnt have an eld in it, but before I talk to the boss about it, Im trying to come up with a rough #. So 360 loaded miles each, bobtail back, 1440mi total. Its a cash deal. 35k lbs each, Im thinkin $630 in fuel.

What do you guys think would be a fair price?

 

Gotta renew the med card @330 today. I'm only 5"6 150 but high blood pressure runs in the family.

Haven't had any coffee or smokes all day. That 1st Newport is gonna feel godly lol

 

This place in Waterloo is sure good at wasting an entire day. Truck ahead of me is done loading, now they have another local truck cutting me in line because they had a last minute order come in that has to deliver today... what am I, chopped liver?

I'm about ready to refuse to come here anymore without a guarantee of loading AT MY APPOINTMENT TIME, or I come home empty.

This is just so ####ing stupid.

 

I haaaate that ####. 7:20am the other morning in Midland I was dropping off pallets of cement. The place has no extra room so trucks have to stage across the street. I took the time before they opened the gate to unstrap and roll them up, as I finish and jump in the truck to pull up as they open the gate a f'in local truck comes flying down the street and turns in before I can cross traffic.

I was annoyed, but just sat there and waited.

 

Yeah, it happens a lot with steel distributors as well, but what I don't like is giving me an appointment time, and not holding to it. I get it, these guys have a job to do too, but why did you schedule me for the morning? I wouldn't have busted hump to get here (and risked so much on icy backroads). I might have called it quits when the I35 shut down, then come in in the morning.

I've got 665 miles to get home from here. That's a day's drive for me. Why tease me with the chance of getting home Friday late? Why not just let me know Thursday I'm not making it home for sure till Saturday afternoon?

At least I have time booked off for Monday and Tuesday so I still get a full weekend. Got plans with my wife to go out to dinner and see her favourite a capella group on Tuesday. That was her birthday present, that I planned back in December. I sure as #### hope for their safety here that I get loaded today, because if I'm waiting till Monday, they'll have my wife on a plane coming out to strangle the lot of them.

And the office is going to send them the bill for my retention. I hope they make this load really expensive for them.
