Dude, I'll be blunt, who cares. 28 years and just for those, not really an issue.

Go get your cdl by any means, if it takes going to a mega, then get a year or so in, then apply to the companies around you and move on, you can do it.

Be honest and you will be working soon.

 

I would enjoy the free CDL training from them, but the job I’m aiming for would be a local one where I’m home daily. I also have no problem paying to go to a CDL school if necessary.

Just remember there is NOTHING FREE ...my a suggestion would be to get your CDL on your own(paying in out of pocket) , in that case you would be tied up with a mega for X amount of time..on the other hand , good luck!!

 

28 years is a awful long time to be hanging onto stuff. Particularly the bad. IT must have been really bad. Let it go.

Acknolwedge it when you need to but depending on the DQ'ing list presented by FMCSA against certain Felonies you should be good to go.

Most truckers burn out the body by the mid 50's it's sometimes the way it happens, Some later, some earlier. It was earlier in my case. Ive repaired some of the damage pernamently but not all of it just yet. I still have some work to do still.

It's one thing to be getting going trucking when you are old and wise enough not to be involved with lumping freight. That is why I will run Medicine. They take care of it in a HURRY. like within 20 minutes it's off the trailer, reloading takes a little bit longer for cardboard going back to memphis. Shipping consists of drop and hook. And occasionally a apple load that needs a day to get to atlanta and unloaded in a few minutes and back to little rock the next day is a welcome run sometimes depending on what I am doing.

You only have one spine. You protect that where possible And particularly one CDL A. You buy that cash always. So it's YOURS free and clear. Particularly with the deadline right now to begin renewals with that enhanced star on the licensing all over the USA. Without that star you do not board domestic flights, enter bases or canada etc.

 

Remember pay the cdl and be done with it. If you for example had to borrow against your future in one of the MOST UNSTABLE of all industries possible, you could be fired next week for popping a tire. And BOOM there you are you owe the full amount.

Arent you GLAD it's no problem for YOU. I say 99.9% of the people who have no money it is a hella problem.

I'll get some more trucking company names for you. Many hire new grads even though the ads may say "experience required." They bend the rules on "experience required" all the time for a good applicant, just like Clean harbors did.
