:biggrin_25510: I am a current driver for Interide Transport. I have been with this company for less then 6 months and they are like so many other companies.
My dispatcher should find another job as she does not have what it takes to be a dispatcher. Just because you were married to a truck driver, does not make you qualified to be a dispatcher! She often asks if there is anything she can do for me but when I ask, she can't help or its not her decision, I should ask the ops mgr. There should be a sign in the office "NO FIBBING (lying) ALOUD".
My Ops Mgr supposedly has been through "Anger Management" classes, if so, he should get his money back or re-enroll!
The owner seems to be an honest man but with his current office team I wonder if he is truelly as honorable as he seems.

I have had a few problems with truck maintenance, all work on trucks is hired out, not a problem, however, if you are not given permission to get time to get repairs done, what do you have? Brand new, broke down pieces of junk!
The fleet is all new, A+ for that. 2014 Freightliners, I prefer KW or Pete's but the new Freightliners are comfortable on the inside and can haul an 80,000 lb load. Just don't try to climb a hill of 3% or more with a heavy load, "Aint Gonna Happen"! The trucks are cut back to 65 mph which isn't a bad thing just don't plan on being ahead of schedule unless you have an extra day to get there.
Interide has more trailers then trucks but many are old and not maintained very well. Often times 1 or more lights don't work or there are flat/no tread on the tires and you have schedule a repair which takes a lot of time out of your day unless you are close to a repair facility.
Interide uses PCmiler.com, it is supposed to be the shortest possible route but you are expected to drive the fastest route. I'm sure this is the standard to most companies. I am not sure if PCmiler is the car route or truck route but it seems to take 10% - 20% off your actual milieage. I have taken trips that were 1,000 miles and they were straight shots, but somehow, PCmiler said it was an 800 mile trip. Once in a while you can run a shorter trip then PCmiler and you still get paid by PCmilers numbers, but that is very rare. You get paid for Dead Head miles as well but again, PCmiler takes a chunk out of that too.
On the Flatbed side you get paid $35 per tarped load, unfortuneately it takes 4-8 hrs to tarp depending on the load. You do the math! I often wonder if they are charging the customer more for a tarped load and is Interide taking a cut of the tarp pay? If you have make multiple stops and untarp then re-tarp you get paid $35 for re-tarping. Extra stops pay $25 for each.
I have had to wait several hours to get my next load which is frustrating because all the waiting goes against your 14 hr day. They are trying to implement a computer dispatch system but are a long way from it being a useful tool.--Kudos for trying.
**One of the biggest complaints I have is being forced or told to run illegal or to drive on Personal Conveyance to get to the next load. When you are out of hours, thats it no more driving!!!
The freight you haul is typical, but it would be nice to know who, what, where, when, tarped or Over-size before getting to the next load. Often I receive an email via Rand McNally saying "Call this number for your next load". That's it. No more info!
Interide has a quarterly bonus program for fuel, safety, road side inspections and maintenance. I suppose once you learn how to play the game then it may be worth it. I do not think playing games should be part of a trucking company (period)! A good truck driver should be paid what they are worth and not have to play games to show their worth.
I have been driving tractor-trailers for nearly 20 yrs, no speeding tickets, no accidents, no HOS violations (until Interide). I am very good at what I do. I have nearly 1,000,000 miles under my belt and "Knock on Wood" hopefully I can go another million without incident.
When I hired on, Interide had a sign on bonus, its paid in increments over a 6 month or 1 yr period. I don't know if it is still in effect, considering they lost about 20 drivers in the last 3 months, they may still have a sign on bonus.

Think before you leap fellow truck drivers...if a company goes through 20 drivers in a short time, then chances are, the company has MAJOR ISSUES.

    Be good, DRIVE SAFE!

Good post and lots of good points. Do your research before you do go there, something I'm still learning to this day.

Since you mentioned that you work there I would strongly advise against posting your truck or trailer number, or anything that can tie you to the post.
