I get what you are saying because I would like to see the west since I have only been out there once in my whole life. The only thing is that is hard to turn down the Millis starting pay of .43 per mile right out of school. I did not think anyone would offer that. I would need to stay with them a year but it is only a small $150 penalty if I don't.

Those other companies I listed pay that also. Look at accessorial pays also; pays that are given to you when you're not driving.
FFE (Frozen Food Express) even pays something like $800 or $850 if you take a week off and agree to be on call during that week. @TravR1 said they've never called him during that time.

Yeah, I am also considering them. I am still undecided. FFE does look promising but I did not know what their starting pay is but for linehaul, it starts at .40 for the first six months. Not bad at all. Thanks.

This is a list of the things that terrify me most in trucking.

    1) Freight agents or brokers.
    2) Shippers and receivers.
    3) Truck dealerships.
    4) Mechanics at truck stops.
    5) Scale houses.
    6) Cars that try to drive in the snow or rain.
    7) Cars that try to drive during sunny days.
    8) High beams.
    9) Mega carriers.

    The rest isn't too bad.

@TravR1 will probably make $80K this year at FFE. Don't listen to the naysayers that claim you'll make poverty wages your first year, because you won't.

Using a blow torch to get love bugs off my windshield usually terrifies the gas hauler parked next to me.

The motto of the Acme truck driving school is yesterday you flipped hamburgers today you'll flip a Freightliner

    Hey hey hey hey hey...

...for close to the last three years I either drove or was leased to ACME Truck Line. That's a world class bunch of drivers.

True story, during my stint with ACME I hit a roadrunner and two coyote.
