Anybody working out of the SLC Terminal? I'm in Reno and that is the closest terminal to my home. Was looking for good or bad.

    Thanks

Well I have decided to give it a shot. Put in my application today. I was told I would do local line haul work in SLC for a week then get a load to drop in Stockton CA terminal. Then get a preloaded trailer there and head back to SLC with a stop at my house for my time off. Shall see how it goes. Have to go to Lancaster TX for orientation and then to SLC. All of this is on hold until my wife fully recovers from her hip replacement surger. Probably in 3 weeks or so.

I had a full hip replacement surgery and essentially dismissed the PT, Nurse home visits and associated medicines after 8 weeks so far. I am getting to where I forget the joint is artificial.

You will walk into a FFE that is not the same FFE I rode for in 2001. Lancaster is indeed the school-orientation and many good things that helped us alot in our time, example Fuel Boy does full PTI while I fuel and wife runs in with the paper work to chase and capture a dispatcher with enough balls to make command decisions and move us down the road.

Lisa, AM Eg, FFE etc were part of a family of 6 trucking companies going into millions of dollars nationally and so on.

San Fran Office is not particularly fast. LA Downtown FFE OFFICE knows what's up on the whole west coast. Keep ASKING QUESTIONS about who has 30 trailers to move say between Port of Industry via FFE LA Office, they have daycabs to handle your importation and inspections, waiting in lines etc) to Maybe Eugene OR, Machining Shop for finishing work to load by Carboys further north to Boeing in Walla, washington. this week?

You probably can use 12 of your driving time, combined with one fueling, pre and post trips and deliver getting loaded in LA and empty in Eugene. Pending drop trailer into a drop yard or reloading with carboys as needed for Boeing in Walla. (Pulled a town out of hat.) for assembly and reload of god only knows what back to either Eugee for refinishing to spec or back to FFE LA with defetives going back to Thailand or some such place.

Your immediate problem or Jackpot situation as a driver is that you have managed to come across a batch of paired shipper, recievers and more importantly for you groups of say 50 or more trailers that need TLC but all of them are equally busy, never stop moving.

If you paced yourself and communicated well like Hiyas t'y'all! Whats got all of you treed to call us tenderfoot tenders from the rotten east to try to stea... er.. sort out your 50 trailer mess.

She is doing remarkably well all things considered. She had her right hip replaced about a year ago and she is doing much better this time.

Hopefully your surgeon explained to her the root cause of the whole thing.

MIne was avascular Necrosis, literally death of blood vessal/supply to bone which then dies. Once bone death is detected the body begins to concrete around the dead bone attempting to bury the problem. It was not long before the bone being dead combined with loss of mass in place and arthritis simply got smashed in place. At that point you in a land of 2 milligrams of IV Dilaudid to zero the pain with bigger doses pending if necessary, those are only good for 8 hours a time with me with that kind of pain that causes the brain to pass out.

Being a pain patient caused many doctors to pretty much treat me like a pariah and not medicate or dose properly. And so the surgical pain and post operative was a fiasco. I learned to build up 4 doses wait until the end of day and add them at 20 minute intervals. 80 mg total. In a hour and half I nod straight to a kind of sleep that cannot be disturbed by nurses coming every hour to get vitals. Unless they want to get cold and fill me with narcan or something outrageous.

The other joint will fail at some point, when it does we will chop it out and drop a new one in. The recovering on that one will be a more difficult one because I no longer have a leg you can do anything with to assist the recovery.

PAthology thankfully did not find cancer. But they did find a whole lot of arthritis and loss of bone mass.

That's all I write about this one, I'll convey best wishes for the recovery on your end. If it's done right within about 6 months you will find that if you are brave enough able to do anything except physical contact sports like football and martial arts where you throw the bad guy around all day. If they throw you a certain way and you come down backwards with a twist on that leg, that entire joint will just go "Pop" possibly smashing the pelvis on impact if you do not have been blessed with bulk on hiney where it counts. You would either lose the leg or have to do a second surgery to replace that again or pop it all back into place.

Well the hiring process is about done. Should be green lighted on Monday. I am supposed to get a phone call from the SLC terminal manager Bob on Monday to go over the job and answer any questions I have. Making my list this weekend. I’m hoping there are no surprises like when I flew to Jim Palmer for orientation and found out that their outside recruiter had lied to me on just about every aspect of the job. That was not a fun experience for me or them.

Well I finally spoke with Bob and this job was over before I even started. Nice enough guy but since I am not an SLC local I would have to stay out 7 weeks and then fly home for my home time. Not happening.

    Next!
