My CB has no range

Thats what i said,like the pole i had but shorter..Cuttin off the top a foot or so aint gonna make that much of a diff..Weakest point will be in the middle so much it helped i cant say but i dont see it maken a huge diff..
BUT based on your gate he did 30+ mi..

 

I'll stick to my DMR Motorola for world wide coverage at 2 watts.

 

What freq range does that cover?
That not a 2m or 15 m or what ever all those meters are..Its not in the 10/11 m range is it..

 

The thing about your Pole is that it's not part of the antenna system.
You took a short antenna and kept it a short antenna and elevated it three foot above where it needed to be connected.
This guy took a nine foot whip and made it into an 11-foot whip, and mounted it down low on the mirror bracket and then he trimmed the top off until it was until it was resonant. There's no similarity between the two antenna systems.

 

Without my receiver listening it would never happen at that distance. He's lucky for the average person to hear him half the distance.

Have both a portable and a mobile, actually I like the 95.00 chineesium portable best,. TyT380 is easier to program and use than the Motorola's. But the sound quality of the Motorola is better of course.

 

I have 3 i is a dual band the other two are 440 only

 

Both the Motorola portable and mobile radios look nice. A lot of these radios aren’t easy to program anymore, a person needs to buy the software program, to make it easier. I use a Yaesu 2800 for my 2 meter base, and trying to change the default offset was a real pain. I think it took me a half hour or more to figure it out, since I couldn’t find it anywhere in the manual. Thank goodness for YouTube videos.
