Ask for an itemized bill and proof that you owe this money.

Yeah what he said Old Guy 56.Then post it up for all of us to view and either expose transam or at the very least give'em one hell of a black eye.
push them for the breakdown and compare your notes.OOIDA may need to get involved.

That's not what I mean. If they can't prove you owe this money, they can't expect to collect.

ok if you say so.the logbook is easy the QC is not that hard either if you know how it works and what kinda time stamp it has.
you could run 100% legal and kill someone and still get blamed either way your in jail because your in a big truck,
The monthly avg was low till i firgured out there system if i went back i could make alot more because i know how to work there system now and it takes a few weeks to learn anyones system. i got 2 buddies there and there still doing well.and Far as being 30 minutes late because of a log book thats just crazy
If you keep bein late you will see what i am sayinug is true.I never turned down a load for time reasons only if the load didnt make sence say 1000 miles in 4 days they can keep that for a company truck,

If you need 30 minutes log it 5 mph faster do the math sometimes between 60 mph avg and 65 t0 70
Tie your pt and your fuel at the same time theres 15 minutes.
    lots of ways to save

anyway i am no longer there yall can bash um all you want just find it funny guys with 0-12 months bashing companies

What you call a special breed must be someone with no other choices. I do not think that everyone who drives a truck is a homeless former felon; but if you drive a truck long enough you will probably become one if you "work" your logbook or do the other things that are "required" for a driver to make a living wage in this industry. That is the only ticket you can write.

Doing your homework also requires that information be available to find. When everyone lies to you about all aspects of this business, doing homework is an exercise in futility. Most of the negative posters on these trucking sites have screwed up on their own in some way and are not reliable sources of information. I did not screw up. I made all pickups and deliveries on time. I did not get tickets or hit anything. I drove 650 to 850 miles per day when I had miles to drive. I still sat 3-4 days per week on average. Many weeks I reset twice per week. I sat because the company did not care what happened to me or if I made any money beyond the lease payment. The whole thing is a scam and designed to screw the driver. The only reason I am posting anything at all on this forum is to inform others of the reality I experienced. This is real information that cannot be discounted or dismissed as the drunken ramblings of a screwup. It is also presented in an articulate manner without rage and raving. If you have positive or negative information to add to the discussion; please add it, keep the personal attacks for someone you know personally.

TransAm sent an itemized bill; 4 pages that I am trying to figure out. From what I can tell at this time, the $304.43 appears to be for prorated wear on the drive tires and prorated battery usage that was not covered in the maintenance mileage escrow retainage for some reason. I have to compare this bill with the final settlement statement (which should have included any other lease charges) to determine if there is any validity to the charges or if this is an attempt by TransAm to have a "do-over" in their accounting.

    allnite Thanks this.

That is my point as well.I improperly phrased it. I am also stating that they, transAm,shall have proof of the money owed OR there is no money owed more tham likely.More like an extortion.
Self explainatory IMO considering that I suggested that OG56 compare his documentation with theirs. Also precisely why I suggested soliciting OOIDA's help.
That which I comprehend and then pen to paper does not always equate a comprehension by those my point addresses BUT TA had better be able to make sure that OG56 comprehends how/why he owes them money or he probably owes nothing.
Sorry for the misunderstanding as I am on old guy 56's side.

IF you can legally do so and feel comfortable doing it,PLEASE post the point of contention and your documented activities/incurred lease obligations or whatever you can,so those here in this forum can brainstorm w/you either before or after the fact. There is a driver out there somewhere that has fought this battle, either w/TA or elsewhere, and won or at least brought it to a draw(which keeps your money w/you).Regardless,among us there has to be some common sense observations to assisit you w/this David and golieth set up.Hey man,$300.00 is $300.00.Then there is the often lost principle of the situation at hand and money becomes a secondary issue.
I appreciate that you have kept this civil and professional, informative and updated. Please continue on and GOOD LUCK.

He has 2 companies interested in him but both are in a hiring freeze due to the economic downturn at this time. One major moving company said it would be at least 6 weeks til they could bring him on, so right now he is still miserable in the taxicab. Right about now I miss TransAm despite all the headaches, but from the way this thread sounds, that is not the answer to our current situation-although he kinda decided if the moving doesnt work out, he is going back OTR company driver somewhere to get his 3 years OTR experience and then try again for something local. We'll see...:biggrin_25511:
