I came across the Take 3 Ultra Lite 48 rated at 12k and the website Ultra-Lite-48 has a picture of a dually + trailer + 3 cars (explorer,fusion,taurus) on the scale registering at 24,860.
Trailer weighs 5200 lb fully equiped, 6800 lb payload and 2 Dexter 7K Axles on Heavy Duty Spread Axle Suspension.
Is this a legal non cdl setup that would pass on the scales?

explorer curb weight: 4,443 to 4,901 lbs
fusion curb weight: 3,411 to 4,085 lbs

Yea I checked the curb weights too. Also Ram dually + trailer is at least 14k if not more. Is the pic on the site fake? How much is the hitch weight on the truck? Any chance they found how to spread the weight?

According to the ram website, 2018 3500 dually 4x4 long bed diesel weighs 8,167 to 8,314. Ad the stuff most hotshotters carry around like tool box or bigger fuel tank and you are nearing 9,000 lbs curb weight.

I would not say faked as much as best case scenario. They found vehicles (including the truck) that have no bells and whistles meaning it's the absolute lightest vehicle possible. Then they do stuff like only put 1 gallon of gas in them. It's just advertising.
But remember total weight is not the only thing the laws cars about. The trailer is well over the registered weight. It's just auto carriers know that just about no scale actually care so they get away with it.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -

Getting my cdl so this isn't important to me anymore but I have seen this asked a lot so figured I'd throw this out there.I found a legal 3 car setup and I'd like your opinions on the math.
Ram 3500 single rear wheel. Take 3 ultra lite
GVWR 12,300 lbs GVWR 13700 lbs
Curb weight 8000 lbs. Curb 5400 lbs.
gcvwr 26,000
curb weight 13,400
Payload 12,600
trailer hitch weight 2,700 - 3,600 (15-20%)
at max payload
That's the easy part. Now to make sure you don't over load the axle math. So I am splitting the weight according to what the truck is actually carrying and what the trailer actually weighs minus tongue weight split on two 7k dexter axles.
Truck payload is 4320 lbs. Max tongue weight is 3,600 and that leaves you with 700 lbs of you plus what ever accessories you add to the truck. Fuel, tools, luggage ect.
So 3,600 lbs that the truck is carrying minus the total available payload of 12,600 leaves us with 9000 lbs of payload on the trailer axles. Trailer weight + Payload is 14,400 lbs Even not overloading the axle, at best you have a 12,200 max pay load instead of 12,600 and all should be legal.
Any objections? Did I miss something?
My state's license specifically allows you to carry any combination up to 26k lbs without a cdl.
If the towing vehicle is rated for 26,001 or more then I cannot tow a trailer that has a combined weight of more then 10,000 lbs.
Your state might be different. Check with your local dmv. -
yeah you won't get far with a split between the trailer and the truck, the officer who has you pulled over on the side of the road will point out that the trailer payload governs the entire load. The truck can take some of the weight as part of reality but on paper, the trailer needs to be able to haul the entire amount of the payload.
