Well, the countdown is on. I got pushed back a week to start due to the trainers having a state mandated training to attend. New Start date is Feb. 11.
@A.cam has already started and obtained his CDL. Maybe he can jump on and she’s some light on the process.

Loaded an excavator up today it was headed to California

 

Ok, just a quick update, I started training with R.E. West yesterday. So far so good. Everyone in the office and on the yard has been great!
Due to the regular trainers doing some sort of state mandated training this week, I have one of there fill in trainers. Those trainers are also certified as 3rd party testers so it’s an all in one stop type training program.

Day one consisted of the normal new hire paperwork, W4, direct deposit etc. then a few hours of watching trading videos, particularly the pretrip video, over and over and over again.

Lucky for me they were only starting 2 guys in the class this week and the other guy didn’t show up.

That allowed me to fast track if you will, out to the yard yesterday afternoon to try out a few maneuvers in the truck. With one guy still there from last week it was basically just him and I taking turns so I was able to get quite a bit of seat time.

Day two: (today) arrived about 8am. Today, it was straight to the yard, did a pretrip then more backing practice. Straight line, offset, and 90 degree alley dock. Things have been going great, this place has been great so far and I highly recommend them.

@A.cam started a couple of weeks ahead of me and is out with his road trainer now and I believe he’s somewhere nice and warm like Florida or something. He may be able to give some more insight to the next steps but so far for me, everything has been awesome.

Edit: I should also mention that they train and test on a manual so that you don’t have the restriction on your CDL.

 

Yes I am in Florida training is top notch after you pass your CDL-A test you will get a hat you will go home and be ready to leave with your trainer when he calls between Friday and Monday

 

@A.cam or @drumchaos i know you guys are probably busy but how about a update on the training and how things are going. Im really intrested in Re west..Thx

 

Things are going great!!! @A.cam has been out with his trainer and is due back over the weekend I believe.

I just finished up on the yard with backing and pre-trip and with the classes. Took and passed my CDL test yesterday. I head out Monday morning with my road trainer.

Everyone I’ve met so far has been awesome! I’ve been doing a YouTube Vlog of everything. I’m sure if we’re allo to post the link here but message me if you’d like and I’ll pass it along to ya.

 

@drumchaos i found your vlog..Very informative thx for posting..Theres not much on RE West on youtube. Get some heat in that garage i was cold just watching..lol

 

Haha. Yea it was freaking cold out there a couple of nights.
