I've wondered the same thing, and what it's like having a camera crew fallowing you around all day.

Al is straight up and a hard-working dude but Gord is a hoot I love it when you gets all pissed off about bunny bumpers!!
x1Heavy, Brettj3876 and Mike2633 Thank this. -
I don’t think recovery parts are fake/scripted/directed. There’s too much going on to be screwing around. They do like to spice it up with editing though. I drove past a wreck one day and the camera crew was filming the traffic going past while the tow crew was cleaning up
Canadianhauler21, striker, Mike2633 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Wrecks due to stupidity are an everyday occurrence these days ...got bored with it a long time ago .
Thinning of the herd for those of us that don't hold it on the floor and keep a safe following distance.Brettj3876, Mike2633 and Dale thompson Thank this. -
Yeah I don't get these drivers out there on the 401 who are pedal to the metal and all clumped up together. Why Wednesday this week we had the great salt event of 2019 we had a half inch of heavy wet snow and I think ODOT dropped 40,000 tons of salt on I-480, but didn't bother to plow any of that brown garbage dirt snow/slush out of the way and didn't really make it down to I-71 at all, @Longarm told me I-71 going into Columbus, Ohio was a big sheet of ice and cars were in the ditch everywhere.
Anyhow I was making sure as I drove through the nice snow/salt brine to keep plenty of distance from the cars and other vehicles in front of me.
Now there was one truck accident on 401 season (2) where I could see how it happened and it was something that kind of maybe could have happened to anyone, the truck got totally totaled the truck was done. There was a car that stalled out on the live lane of traffic and it was not really well lit area it was night dark rainy I don't know if the car didn't have any lights, visibility was way cut down and the truck driver saw the car jump out at him right when the car got in range of his head lights and swerved to the right to avoid the car drove down an embankment through a fence onto a service road/industrial lead and right into the parking lot of an industry and through (2) pick up trucks into a ditch. The truck driver was a seek gentleman who basically said "Hey I avoided killing those people so that makes me very happy."
The trailer was carrying a load of auto parts probably a JIT load of auto parts near the US Canada boarder, the trailer it's self actually looked drive-able and alright.
The tractor which I think was a Freightliner FL was totaled just done, the whole front end was totally ripped apart and torn up, they were torching parts off of it. Although the cab was intact to where the driver made it through.
Now some of the other accidents they had like the dump truck cursing down the 401 with it's dump bed all the way up and hit's a bridge at 100km an hour (60) miles and ripped the dump bed straight off the chassis of the truck I mean I don't know, I've never driven a dump truck, but wouldn't you know like oh the dump bed is totally extended by looking in you're mirror or I don't know more light coming through the back window then you're used to? I'm a little befuddled at that accident. -
Highway Thru Hell new episodes are only on You Tube it appears. Jamie Davis towing has their own You Tube channel recently.
Mike2633 Thanks this. -
I'm not sure how you figure those crashes are manufactured or embellished drama, if you've ever driven that stretch of 401 or 402 you'd know that's exactly how those boneheads drive. Do they cherry pick certain ones?, sure they do but that's southern Ontario's new Canadians at their finest.

What's manufactured and you can tell is the sound effects that they ad in they ad horns and stuff all the time. That part of it is manufactured. The crashes are real nobody is saying they are not, there isn't one person here who says that it's not real. For the most part the dialogue between operators that's all real too, but don't think for one minute they don't edit and ad sound effects and spice it up for TV. Editing, manufacturing what ever word you want to use.Canadianhauler21 Thanks this.
