Come to the oilfield we always lend a hand to help a fellow. Guiding them into spots, helping hook up hoses etc

Last summer i helped a rookie back in next to me in a real tight blindside at night. He got out said thanks we end up bs'ing for a bit. He starts talking about the idiots parking at the fuel island. I go well driver you'll be fine out here, you already figured out what a lot can't lol

The problem with helping people back in to spots is that they may mess up anyways. I watched a guy help a USA truck back into a tight spot. The guy guiding him actually guided the driver right into his own mirror on his truck. Then he started yelling at the driver. Who gets the blame for the accident? Obviously the driver but I would feel guilty as hell if I were the ground guide and the guy still hit something.

The other day I was at a receiver in laredo and it was tight as heck and all blindside. Two guys got out to help me, but they just confused me. I still got out and looked 12 times and finally got it in. And actually the one guy on my blind side backed me in so tight, the door on my trailer was crunched up against the trailer next to me. If I had broken that door, I would be liable. It just all makes me very nervous. The point being, sometimes helping somebody back can bite somebody in the you know what.

Now don't get me wrong, I do appreciate it when other drivers jump out to help, but caution is still needed from all involved.

I appreciate your helping a new driver. As a female, I get offers of help pretty regularly and I'm always extremely grateful (4 months out of school and not a great backer yet as I drive tanker and seldom drive in reverse)

I remember being told when i first started driving. When spotter try to spot, politely thank them and decline. It’s your ship and your butt. If they back into something, it’s on you not them.

Now do you lay your future in the hands of a stranger?

    Personally, i have trust issues.

I wonder how many owners and fleet owners have had been dragged into a mess with helping someone or a driver helping someone and the person they were helping hit a truck because they ignored a spotter?

Females will get help regularly and effortlessly. The fellas will flock around them even if it's just to help them put fuel in the truck. The fellas have more issues. Some of us will be like, "I got it!" Pride taking over. I saw a driver for Hirschbach struggling mightily in Rochelle, Illinois Petro. Another driver tried to help him and got told off. I told the assisting driver let him be. He will hit somebody and wish he had some extra vision.

I always, try to help when I can, but if I get told off, and they are still struggling, I'll video it and laugh.

When I have help, I still get out and look.
