Does not work that way on a lease, its Whatever you get paid per mile or trip if its % and at the end of the week all you expense gets subtracted from your gross, that will be your net, if you are lucky, you will show a profit, alot of weeks you wont because your expense is not a fixed amount, depending on fuel costs, repairs and so on, you wont know your taxes till the end of the year but if you get them prepared quarterly you will have a ruff idea, a good many lease drivers do not have health insurance, if your lucky, the wife has a good job and you can get it through her, and its alot cheaper that way usually

Not true, you can make a profit , and we do. After your fuel, and and other deductions, you just put 15 to 25 % away in a Tax savings account to take care of your quarterly taxes, and the rest is your pay. 5 cents a mile is deducted for your maintenence. If you want you can raise that amount. Most drivers eliminate a lot of there road expenses,by doing there own cooking. If there was not a way to make money here there would not be so many drivers with 10 and 15 years service here. You have to run this as you would any other business.

It doesn't have a thing to do with whether a person is important or not.

If you need to send a PM and don't have enough posts yet, you can PM a MOD/ADMIN and they can relay info to another member for you.

ok im all set up for May. the problem i am having is these issues:

    1. paying on a used truck for 90 days and no warranty. What if someting breaks on me during those days? i know im under the probation period. But being broke down for something you had no control over? also all that money going to a truck your not going to keep? will the side note transfer over? miles paid on?

    2. I alsways ask the JCT drivers when i meet them on the road (lol none of them ever have their radio on, gota catch them at a fuel pump) I always ask tell me something bad about JCT only thing i can hear is dont let the yard work on your truck. bad repairs, over priced, replace too many parts that do not need replacing.

    3. picking a used truck. will they give the repair sheet on those vehicles? Maintenance sheets showing if the preivious drivers took care of it?

    4. the company i work for now wants us to be slow to conserve fuel. will JCT push us to go faster? or allow us to work on fuel?

And all the drivers taht started a few months ago how is life? are you happy with your choice to change? Making the money you expected? happy with your truck? service from JCT?

Thanks to your help in helping me decide to leap or stay on the cliff.

Ive talked to several drivers at truck stops (JCT). They seem happy or wouldnt change to any other carrier. They are running plenty of miles (3000+) a week and wouldnt change carriers.... Just what I'm getting from the drivers I have been talking to in Ontario (T/A). Alot of Freightliners coming through the yard now and alot of newer aerodynamic trucks available to choose from (drivers say). It would be my luck I would get a 5 year old Pete! Drive Safe

Honestly, I have never met a JCT driver not happy with them - driving for them.:biggrin_255:(yet)
