Exactly. I book my own loads at 70% for yrs and make a great living. You do the numbers 70% or own authority you actually come out ahead on 70% imo .
Example 6000 gross a week 1500.00 operating cost a week. Comes out to 4500.00 . (1500.00 includes truck payment. fuel, reefe rental ,cargo liability, factoring ,qrtly taxes,)
70% of 6000 is 4200 thats a 300 differenre per week. For 300 i get discount fuel, discount shop rates qtrly saftey bonus 400.00 qtr. Plus somebody running my office filing ifta booking a load if i get bad spot . No factoring no trl rental no cargo liability. To me its worth losing 30%.
I have ran 70% for yrs . I have new vehicle paid in full new pole barn to park my truck. Home paid off 3 harleys 39 roadster. And rental properties . These are assest accumilated working at 70%. I have even worked local at 70%. It baffles me when people say your leaving money on the table at 70% . So what i got a life the difference is between 70% and own authority is 300 wk and peace of mind of getting in the truck and drive and let the office im leased to do the paperwork why i spend time with friends family.

Are you leased to USA Truck or Landstar?

Neither leased to a small company 140 trucks . I book my own using their trl and DOT . Fair handshake

Landstar is good if you get set up with a good agent with good freight

Landstar is bad. Go to Schneider.jeff18 and Rideandrepair Thank this.
