Contact your DM for clarification of your idling policy. There has been a HUGE ... sequence of enforcement against idling a semi truck by companies in many ways, within your truck's own software. You will find you can learn about bypassing etc. Not everything will work. If you find it's impossible to rest due to extra cold etc then you need a hotel for the night. Contact your company and make some noise about it. If you cannot rest you cannot be rested to drive the next day, and the Law says you are not allowed to be running tired.
Also if your company says no idle period and you do not have a APU etc then it's time to start looking for a different company. One that will take care of you somehow with idling or apu. -
Thank you x1Heavy for your help ful info Iam an oner operator on my own my idling use to be fine it’s just happened not working 2 weeks ago I just wanted to find out the problem and where to star especially I need to use more in when Iam in Midwest 2 the truck is 2006 freight liner Columbia Detroit ser 60 engine.

I have no experience in modern computer engines with idle problems. Either it will run or it wont. If it wont run or stay running then you have to find a shop that will put a computer on it and see what the engine is thinking before it quit running or why it wont run.
Being a O/O for that truck should confer you the total and absolute authority to tell the shop to set up the truck the way you like it to run, in your case if you wanted to idle with or without cruise at a RPM of your choice 24/7 they should be able to put that in.)
If I had a old iron truck that would not stay lit or idle I would be looking first at the fuel filters, then the fuel to see if it's still good and not gelled, then to the fuel pump to see if you have the flow. And work my way towards the turbo and the intercooler before it. If it cannot breathe in the air filter too much restriction etc then a new filter should clear it up. I would see if there is a problem inside the block with loss of oil or oil in coolant leading to loss of compression etc. Who knows?
But today's computer trucks kind of take the fun away although in some ways with a good quality reader like i have bought for my personal vehicle it's easy to get into it and see whatsdamatta so to speak without paying someone 50 dollars to hook their computer for same thing. -
If you can't raise the RPMs with the cruise control and then wait for the shut down time then push pedal. It must be something in the computer setting. That would mean going to Detroit diesel.

If it just started a couple weeks ago I would guess one of the switches went bad. Try pulling up on the clutch pedal or set trailer brakes and release tractor and see if it will work
-
Yep my bet is the park brake control switch, like said before, release and set your park brake a couple times, maybe it’ll start working. But it will probably need replaced. It’s a $10 park that is a complete b###% to replace.
Or your parkbrake valve is bypassing to much air causing the switch to not tell the computer your parked so the variable speed Governor will work.
Either way you’ll need tools to get in the dash.... or a mechanic. -
That's a really good guess. I never thought about that. That's because I did not possess the necessary knowledge of that type of interaction which is possible good or bad.
I usually prefer a mechanic to get into the dash. In the old days you could pull screws and get the gauges etc. But today's dashes tend to go into the vehicle built as a module.Working2party Thanks this.
