What does it matter about AFTER tax nets? Only thing that should matter to anyone is GROSS pay. Gross pay is the only thing that can apply to all who work the same amount. After tax (net pay) is going to be all over the place, from individual to individual depending on their family situation, benefits participation, and state of residence

You’re talking to a man who is married with no dependents(both me and the wife work)who pays property taxes, excise taxes, condo fees and a fixed rate 30 year mortgage. So you’re not showing me anything new!

If you don’t take ALL of your taxes into account(or consult with someone who specializes in such matters)you’re gonna to be in serious trouble.

I never understand the Swift bashing. Everybody has to work somewhere. You will read bad stories about a company because people are only vocal when things go south. Half the people on this site that talk about Swift probably have never worked for them. They have been in business for decades. They're doing something right

Gross pay doesn’t show the entire picture. Not to me anyway. If you make $50-$60K gross but only take home $45-$45K after taxes (just using this as an example),then what’s the point?

The point is gross pay is the only far way to compare. When the money is rolling sure it matters but to compare on net make no sense to me.

For example I pay 20% in taxes/deductions taking into account my city/state and I'm single and 22, so still on parents insurance.
You could be pushing 45% because not only do you have taxes, you have let's say alimony payments and insurance.

Let's say I am with Swift and gross $1,500 and you work at Schneider and gross $1,500
    My net will be $1,200.
    You net will be $825.

By your logic that means you need to to jump to Swift to get a pay raise, when in reality you will be bringing home the same amount.

To compare between companies and drivers gross is the only way to compare.

No it isn’t. Look at what you filed for taxes in the previous year(s) and compare that to what you filed currently.
