Speaking of relics. The rotary snow plow has been in use for over 100 years. It is still the best way to remove snow from the tracks.
What if it Snows?

That's pretty big bar Ive run a 640 myself on that brand. Two something foot bar. We chopped up a oak on it once. It actually squealed in agony a few times when that wood got ahold of it. Chain was swiss made. (For whatever that's worth, stays sharp provided you don't saw the earth)Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.

Depends on if it is Old growth or some thing only growing for a hundred years.......
Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
I own a Stihl MS 391... Its just a baby next to that 880... Ive got a 20 inch bar on it for cutting firewood every summer, but it will handle a 28" inch bar ok.
Here are a few pics of 2 large Lombardi Poplar trees I took out for a neighbor... Not the biggest trees I've brought down but not small by the standards of most.

Heading west across 80, I had to press the AC button at Cheyenne today. The sun coming through the window is hot. I’m enjoying the warm wind while I can. Probably won’t be like this if I’m going back through there in 3-4 days.
Dave_in_AZ and Cattleman84 Thank this. -
The Oak was a remant of chopped down, most of the other trees are the hardwood sycamores, generally 60 to 80 feet, 2+ feet round at base give or take.
We did however leave the walnuts alone. A few of those might be worth something to the current owner someday if the wood is good.
I recall using the Mack Superliner Dump to haul about two loads of chopped oak after a giant was brought down. I don't know the age of it but it's quite possible its exceeding 100 years old. Took 5 men two days to get it. I don't know how many cord two loads would make or more but someone had enough for a few months for sure that year in firewood.Dave_in_AZ and Cattleman84 Thank this. -
Stihl doesn't make a "640" They never have.4mer trucker Thanks this.
