Welcome aboard! I hand to learn how to check dates also and it did not give a warm fuzzy. The inspector is a employee of the Department of Transportation. While many people on this forum have no use for them there are but holes in every profession and it only takes one to leave a bad taste. I did appreciate the few that spent a little of their time to share what can be done to stay on the road and out of the back lot. Then one from another profession shows their colors and they do not share anymore.

One of our company semi trucks annual inspection expired in January, now they want me to drive it almost 5 hours away to be inspected, can they force me to drive it and will I get on trouble.
-
If your not under load it can be driven.
And there is no such thing as "being forced" dont ever accept that as a fact. You may lose a job, but nobody can force you to do anything. Be willing to walk away when the chips are down.GreenPete359 Thanks this. -
We always do our own. You just have to be a “qualified brake inspector” to legally do them. Other than that, it’s just basically a more in-depth pre-trip inspection.
-
Is there a fine for an expired dot inspection sticker
-
If your under load it can be a oos. Most likely just a fine and warning to get it done
-
Depending on the cop, how long ago it expired could make a difference too.
-
Yes and an oos if the cop doesn't like you.

Last one I heard of was in Grovetown Ga. $300 for the truck and $300 for the trailer. They were not put out of service. This is what the driver told me.
