AND My rebuttle to that is; then don't tell me I have to be on piece work and then limit my number of pieces. Especially if it's lower than the law allows.

The difference between putting the cruise on 75 or 80 doesn't add up to much difference in the end at all... it costs a lot more in fuel though and is harder on the equipment. However... if you happen to have a tail wind and can do it safely and efficiently then I am cool with it. Responsible drivers drive the truck like it's their own and only use the extra speed when the situation allows or when it is necessary. Most drivers aren't capable of thinking this way. Which is one reason why most trucks are governed.

If you'd rather have the pay drawn up as an hourly rate I don't care. You'll make about the same at the end of the year and have accomplished the same amount of work. If it's needed to draw up the pay on hourly + governed trucks rather than piece meal (mileage) pay and ungoverned trucks then so be it.

Ok I 'd be good with that.
What about a place like Challenger that cuts back the HP and limits the truck to 105 until you drive 105 too much so they limit you to 100 doing the golden triangle?

Lol they actually do that? Try to save that extra nickel a day in exchange for piss driver off some will quit over that... I guess they've got it figured out the cost of the expected quit rate and trucks sitting for a while and then cost of a new hire must cost them more than the small amount they think they're saving in fuel fleet wide...o_O

    What's the golden triangle?

Pretty simple. They own the equipment and you agree to operate it according to their company policy and DOT regulations for payment terms laid out in the contract YOU sign with them. If you don't like their policies or pay structure don't work there
