I just make sure that traffic is light then grab my dry erase pen and jot it down on my wing window

Now hold on just a second! I thought that stuff was safe and had no long term lasting effects?

Please note, I'm not attacking you personally, and I really don't care about your past history. But, with the big push in some areas for recreational use, there seems to be a whole business advocating that it's totally safe. I'm confused.

To the question at hand, I just try and remember it and write it on a notepad once traffic is light, or I'm stopped. Not a big deal, people have been doing this for years.

I know a fellow that used to fill out his logbook while driving up to a scale house. He doesn't drive anymore, he retired a few years ago

Jotting a sequence of numbers is hardly a major distraction.

Before falling back asleep until the next state line...

    PE_T and doc43204 Thank this.

And really, all you need to jot down is the last 2 or 3 digits. Not much else is going to change on the odometer between that state line and your next stop.

    PE_T Thanks this.

what i have been doing for decades is....i carry a small pocket tape (or digital) recorder.

hit the "record button", then speak into it..

    done deal.

i still do this, to this day, even though i have a dedicated route, and my mileage is the same, every stinking night....

EXCEPT when there is an accident or road work, and i have to detour out of the route.

this is also helpful, in the rare case that a dumb driver, car, truck, whatever, does something, and i have to drop a dime......i'll have all the information on tape.
