Just find an underwriter to work with instead of trying to go direct. They will taylor a plan around your needs and get quotes from all the companies and find you the lowest one.

Considering your about 1 ticket away from losing your license I would venture to guess the answer would be NO ONE.... Sorry but you can call around and prove me wrong.

It's not your job to figure out who will insure you. Call your local insurance underwriter and let them tell you who you can or can't go through. If they say no one then it's the end of the line until something falls off.

I use Northland, I don't know the cost for General Freight. What I do there are just a few who will insure Boat Haulers. Its vary costly around $8000.00 per year.

    Hey guys,

I have got a situation completely new to me. Right now I am dispatching for my dad and a friend, who both operate under my fathers permits and insurance etc. We have lease on the friends truck. But my dad has another friend who is asking for help/work. He has his own operating authorities and insurance but is getting very little work. He wants to know if I could help him get loads (dispatch for him) under my fathers company name ( I guess by leasing his truck ), since we have already a nice amount of contacts. However, our insurance quoted him out much higher than his current policy, and he does not have money for a new deposit on a new policy. Is there any way that he could still operate/lease under our company while retaining his own insurance? To me, it seems like he technically would be hauling under his own authority (or atleast insured) but would be picking up freight under ours.... :biggrin_25512:....is this considered double brokering? Subcontracting? Is it legal? Do some insurance companies operate that way?

Sum up: His truck would be, for example, BillyBob Trucking and his insurance would be for BillyBob Trucking. But he would be hauling a load for BillyJoe Trucking and the broker would be getting a copy of the BillyJoe Trucking's insurance certificate that does not include BillyBob. Would that be ok? Or could he operate as BillyJoe and just retain his insurance policy with BillyBob :biggrin_2552:? If something went wrong with load (knock on wood) which policy would cover?

Not trying to make a move here until I know exactly what is going on. This is sticky and new stuff to me! We are an owner operator. Please help
