I dunno. My crappy OTR job, should make anyone $100K year or there abouts. With no one on your ###, and no camera in your face.

We've hit the age dave where we are starting to reap the rewards and money isn't everything .
When I ran line haul years ago i used to run nights with a couple ups drivers that made a lot more than me ...1 one of said yeah we make more than you but ups drivers have expensive toys and really expensive divorces .

It's much better to have it than not have it.

    Regarding The highlighted portion

I tried the LTL local deal. It sounded great weekends off, M-F , 5 minutes commute from home $28/hr etc.

I actually got less quality time at home, scheduled start time sucked, hectic stress filled day trying to make all deliveries before pick ups, if not tripping over working around crap and trying to stuff cram and fit xtra pallets in trailer.

And all to boot I took a $30k pay cut for this, ya no thanks.

    Went back

Line haul was nice to when I did it but home life sucked .
Was hard to be married to an attorney that worked 9am to 5pm while I worked 8pm to 8am .
    Ultimately it ended in divorce.

fss99701, Dave_in_AZ and Coover Thank this.

Yea I've said the only real difference in local and OTR is local you have a bigger sleeper.

But I think it's much easier to eat properly and tske care of yourself doing local.

Either way though, it's all consuming.

Opus, fss99701, Coover and 1 other person Thank this.

The e log has made it really troublesome.

There's so many exemptions, and this or that, I don't think anyone really knows wtf.

So now it's like if you PC at all, you're open to some DOT's interpretation.

So now it's always in the back of your mind. Just what every driver needed, more stress.

    fss99701 and bzinger Thank this.

Actually I find it easier myself to eat better while out on road. I prepare meals & everything I need in cooler, and warm up in microwave. Granted I'm only out 4 days.

While I was home nightly, i was too tired/lazy to cook decent food, I ate crap and drank nightly to forget the crappy day i had. Sadly 1 crappy day turned into an everyday thing till enough was enough

I think we have a grand prize winner for appointment show up time.

    Ralphs in Riverside, Communistfornia.

My appointment is 1800. I was just turned away at 1715.

    Can't check in until 1750.
