What's the shaft length on that Predator? The Wilson coax isn't that great, but usually better than factory.

22in shaft length

Ok all of that being said. I personally don't think the SWRs will get any better adding the extra ground straps, but I could be wrong. You can try grounding the antenna mount like @Ridgeline said it could do better. While SWRs aren't everything I did have a higher SWR with a Predator than with the Skip Shooter I'm running. So, I couldn't justify spending $100+ for a Predator vs $30 on a SS. I really think it's going to be the Wilson coax that's holding you back from getting where you want to be.Slowmover1 and Sgonza101 Thank this. -
I'm going to try adding more ground in the mean time. I'm also going to check my swr with an external swr meter.
-
I would also check the resistance of the coax while you're at it.
Sgonza101 and Slowmover1 Thank this. -
I tested my swr with my external swr meter and on ch 1-1.7 ch40-1.5. I'm pretty sure that the swr metter on my sr-955hpc doesn't work as good as my external one. I recommend that star looking thing under the antenna.

Yeah that's good most radios are off a little. And yours is off in a good direction.
Sgonza101 Thanks this. -
I guess I didn't need that extra grounding after all. You have a good diy video though.
