yeah but those GM products nowadays have special wrinkly paint on them, they are water based paints with fisheye feature and look horrible so when you do something to say a vette or Cadillac ATS, you have to recreate those wrinkles and fisheyes.

gm made 61 black ones like mine in 2017. no 18 production numbers released yet. no, it’s not a bentley, rolls, ferrari or whatever, but it’s not what i would call mass produced. jeep made over 2.5 million xj cherokees, i’m not drilling holes in it, either. it’s the principal. drilling holes in cars is an absolute life or death last resort.

fact remains, i’m not drilling holes in the car to install an antenna i will use 4-6 days a year. i’ll leave it alone long before i do something like that.

Now don't get me wrong, not trying to bash you at all but GM mass produces cars, that's all they do and in 2017 they produced 67,000 plus camaros, that is mass production.

I know what you are saying and I get your pride, it is a good car, I almost bought one a while back but I have a thing about GM screwing over the US tax payer so I passed on the car and it went off to the scrap pile.

But just offering a solution that works.

oh I forgot to add something, if you want to keep the value of your car and without too much trouble, get another trunk lid, paint it black and put it on with a hole in it for an antenna. When you want to sell the car, put the original back on.

Sounds like you need to just put on a through the glass mount cb antenna and be done with it.

With an NMO mount, would you be able to switch back and forth between antennas? Like a Wilson 5k trucker, Sirio 5k, or a 102" whip?

No they are a different thread size, they are not interchangeable with a NMO mount.

    There are adaptors. OPEK.

An adaptor might not be “perfect” but is available.

I've been looking for an antenna for my offroad toy. That would have been nice to use a Predator, Sirio, Wilson etc while driving, and then put a 102 whip on when I'm set up stationary. Guess I'll just have to pick my poison.

I decided to put my 2 pill fatboy in here and see just how far I can reach these base stations.

Tillatoba Ms to Philadelphia Ms 95 miles.
Batesville Ms to Aliceville, Al 130+ miles.

This skipshooter is an awesome antenna, that 130 mile contact was facing west while I was 130 miles northwest of him. If he pointed this way I could probably get 150 miles.

Update: got my friend in Philadelphia to spin around north, got him at 150+ miles. He wasn't moving my needle, but we came back to each other four or five times.

Pretty amazing feat under non skip conditions, most drivers are asking how to average a 10 mile range and you are achieving 15 times that, what ever you are doing its working.
