I have a 2001 international 9400i and the fuel will not equalize correctly. I can fill both sides up and the drivers side will have between an 1/8 and a 1/4 less than the passenger side. There is a block on top of the transmission that the fuel lines run to between the tanks and the engine, does anyone know if this block has anything in it that could go bad to not return the fuel correctly to both sides?

the return line block should be a diverter valve to return fuel even on both sides it should draw fuel from both tanks pretty even based on gravity if there is trash in fuel tanks can cause lines to get clogged but a little difference is expected and if your on a hill the side that is lower will have more fuel in it just based on gravity the fuel should be level from side to side that does not mean same amount of fuel in each side

That block is just a "T". It does not direct fuel on purpose to one side or the other. Fuel remain equal due to gravity. If you have uneven level, it's because you have a problem with a line or pick up tube sucking air. With the age of your truck, I suspect your fuel lines are rotten.

Clean the breathers on top of the tanks. They get clog and it creates a vacuum.

It doesn't pull vacuum, I can fill it up and it'll be about an 1/8 of a tank off every time. I'm gonna change all of the fuel lines, thanks for all responses.

Now the I reread your original post, what you described seems about normal to me. Most of the time when I fill up, one tank will take a little more than the other. But I don’t let my Tanks go lower than a 1/4 of the tank.
