@wore out I have a feeling we are alot alike and kinda close in age. Now this site is fun, but no one gives all secrets on here. When work is good I am one hustling greedy sob, first to amit it. I was hurt and couldn't work for at least 2 months. Financially did that hurt yes. Did I have to worry about paying my electric no. These things happen, so best plan for it. Now did I being myself worry because thats my job as a father and husband, Yes like a long tail cat in a room full of rocking chairs!

Very true. I wouldn't spend that kind of money for a 10spd, and I got broke from sucking eggs from a Detroit over an 8v92. I haven't had one since.

I guess it is. But any of you guys self employed and especially with a family should have a emergency fund with 6 months of living expenses saved. This is money you dont touch unless its a emergency. You dont invest it either because you want it liquid. Its insurance for yourself. Now when you have this you can start to look at your auto insurance, medical insurance and raise the deductable because you have cash for emergency and save on preimiums. Then have a saving and investment account. This is all personal. Keep the business end sep. and write yourself a check every week. Dont rob one for the other. Have structure and rules.Zeviander, BoostedTeg, cke and 9 others Thank this. -
I keep all my money buried in jars. The wife knows when I just bought something cause theres fresh dirt laying out behind the shop.Zeviander, IH Truck Guy, 7-UP and 21 others Thank this.

Could bury the wife and keep a cash on kitchen counter? Just a idea. -
Money in jars no problem. Telling wife were they are is a problem. -
Not disagreeing with you but just pointing out that this is next to impossible for some folks. For various reasons too. It's not always just because someone is lazy or lacks the drive to get the job done, there are a lot of solid reasons why it simply will not happen for some.
Also, some people simply don't want all that responsibility at any price. And it's sure not our place to judge others motivation as long as they are doing no harm to others. Sorry for the long ramble. I'm sure that some won't see it as intertwined subject matter but I do. I'm just not expressing it well.
