REACT has long since been HISTORY
CH9 is just as wide open as any of the other 39 Ch's.
I run CH9 more then CH19,those that know me and my truck will always look for me there. If we get an agitator we usually ditch them and their generic radio's by hitting the High/Low side.I use my 10K slide quit abit as well.
Anyway...... shrug off the "Urban Legends" and run what ever Ch you want to.

REACT is still alive and well . A Google will turn up their home page but I didn't think the link would be permissible here . This will have to do . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_Emergency_Associated_Communication_Teams
Although I have also heard for years that channel 9 is no longer designated for emergency use only I can find nothing in black and white to confirm it . It would be interesting to see that confirmation .

I can understand some people choose to run as OutLaw as they can get away with. While others choose to live in FEAR and attempt to walk the razors edge on Compliance.

Listening to Licensed Ham's spewing their radio religion is redundant.
They "want" you to believe their God will strike you down if you aren't running the speed limit on all channels and frequencies.
Many are simple victims of their own fevered imaginations.
When compared to the BIG PICTURE,those of us running Exports and "actually" running on the "Sacred Frequencies" are less than a measurable percentage.

I talk to well over 200 Extras just like I talk to Techs, the biggest crybabies are in the eastern Midwest across to the east and upper east coast.Ive freely given them plenty of personal contact/location information to aid them in their personal pursuit of my prosecution under their redundant 1934 FCC Reg.'s.

Sure there are viable accounts of Companies being "threatened" because their drivers were reported by one of the mentioned MPC's(Mobil Pork Crybaby)
The scare tactics work based on Ignorance and unwarranted FEAR on behalf of the Trucking Companies and their drivers as to "What the FCC WILL ACTUALLY DO"
Granted they CAN DO alot of things, point is WILL THEY?

Even with the rapidly progressing Socialism of the USA we are still
a long way from having to be concerned about whether or not we get that "Notice Of Unlicensed Operations" letter stuffed in our mailbox's because we run Export radios on forbidden frequencies while running the Nations Interstates,we are not Joe Bob running a jacked up base unit with a 70' boom.
Having a Ham License DOES NOT ENTITLE THE HOLDER TO ENFORCEMENT PRIVILEGES! They can COMPLAIN all they want,FCC Form 485 is a free document.

    The story goes something like this . . . . .

It's like a scene out of an old French Foreign Legion movie in which the tiny band of soldiers put helmets on sticks over the wall of the fort to make the stupid enemy think that they are facing not a handful but hundreds. Well, the FCC is that stupid enemy -- and so are we. We swallow the notion that the "moral/legal values" army is huge and is winning elections and ruling America and demanding radical change in our own culture. Wake up: It's three people with empty helmets sticking up over the wall thanks to email and Xerox.

Why live in FEAR of a recently documented CORRUPT Federal Entity?
Read the article in Popular Communications March 09 issue then track the progression thats soon to follow.

Enough for now, time to ROLL !

as long as cobra, uniden and other radio manufactures put 9/19 buttons on their radio 9 will always be for emergencies. BUT you must give way for emergency traffic on any given channel period!

You seem to not understand what this topic is about.

Actually MANY don't understand THE OLD FCC Rules and CONTROL there-of aren't worth the descriptive print.
Instant channel buttons/switch's have no bearing on this what so ever.
REACT members and or affiliates DO NOT retain Legal Enforcement Privileges/Rights/Means/Authority to Enforce Compliance.

FWIW Disaster Relief Efforts in Fla(Homestead) and La.(Katrina) we were directed to CH20 for Coordination(s)

FCC Compliance is Voluntary at Best

From reading your post FriedTator. You basecally said in a shorter verson use whatever darn channel you want.

and I agree, times have changed. if you have an emergency ,you just dial 911 on your cell phone.

A lot of the police cars I've done installs in / worked on their radios have CB's. I doubt any of them use them though, and if they do they're probably on 19.

As long as Ham people on forums such as this come in and STOMP their feet, quoting their FCC Gospel and expecting folks to scatter to the hills at their thunderous keystrokes.
    NOT !!
I'm 48 YO and Ive been talking on radios since about age 3,I climbed the FCC ladder and rang the bell before I was a Junior in High School. Not many 16 YO Licensed Ham's back in the late 70's.I carried that into my early 30's.
Yes times have long since changed and getting worse by the week.
Ham's PROVIDE A GREAT SERVICE WORLDWIDE in times of War or Disaster.
Those men and women are not out policing trucker forums or chasing 10 meter Export radio's up and down the Interstates.

I was just speaking with one of my friends up in the Texas panhandle today around 16:00 about the 20' snow drifts out along I40 near his house. He is one of those weather chaser fellas with the fancy window stickers and a roof full of antenna's LOL!
Read up on the REACT Dinosaur here:
    http://www.reactintl.org/react_histry.htm

Its nothing more then a Social Club with rapidly depleting memberships.
I'm longtime friends with many current members as well as ex'members.

As mentioned the need for BREAK CH9 have been technologically "Surpassed"
Whether you have 40 or 240 channels talk on whatever you feel you need to talk on.The time is coming when we will all soon loose this privilege.

    Welcome to THE CHANGE.
