I currently drive for a local trucking company and things have gotten to the pooint that most guys are sitting home or not making any money. I have been checking into working for TMC. I have been a flatbedder for about a year and a half now. I enjoy flatbeds more than van or curtainsides. I think all companies have their pros and cons and TMC is no different. Most of the threads I have read here are that most drivers are happy driving for TMC. I work with a guy that worked for TMC for 12 years and said they treated their drivers good. He quit to get off the big road after 12 years in TMC's long haul division. Do they expect their drivers to run illegal? I live in the Peoria, IL area, so getting home shouldn't be a problem. How is the freight? Just want to know as much info before I make any major decision. Thank you.

I left TMC a few weeks ago because the frieght was just to slow. I would spend two or three days sitting in truck stops waiting on a load and that just wasn't cutting it. I believe they are a great company but are suffering just like all the rest of the industry. I swore i would never go back in the oil field but thats where I'm back at now. I'm now working for a drilling company setting the conductor pipes for new wells. The pay is ok but at least it's steady and I'm home every night, may be midnight but I'm home, and off just about every weekend. Hopefully the economy will pick back up soon and I can go on the road again, really miss it. TMC is very strict on safety and they really show it in their load securement classes. If someone is considering this as a career I don't think you can go wrong with TMC, just don't expect to get rich.

Also someone posted that Swift might have bought TMC? Never happened, never will. While I was at TMC they were running a little over 3000 trucks and other than the oldest son causeing some problems while he was in charge the company is in good shape. The old man has since taken control again and they are becoming very strict on who makes it through now. Mr Annette knows his stuff and will make sure TMC is around for years to com.
