Amazing, but not real surprising.
-
2 year degrees are worthless
-
even 4 years are worthless.
Spouse has a two and 4 year, it's worthless. Why? 12000 students in Arkansas has the same #### thing. Only a few thousand jobs that matter. (State and Federal Govt with very few institutional jobs) I have a percentage towards a two year but it's worthless when Arkansas brought in additional H1b workers from overseas to replace me prior to graduation that year. I cut bait and gtfo out of there. I did learn a little bit, and a whole lot of why colleges got bloated and fat on our trillion dollars in student loans, 35% of which is in default and the rest are going to be a problem for generations.
Your CDL is one of the last remaining things to do in life without BS schooling in college. General arts, womans studies, crayon drawing, I mean wtf? Come on... it's worthless of itself in college. If you are going to college, then get a hard core course like Pharmacy, Doctor, Engineer, Physicist etc. And you will never want for anything again in life.
Example, My bone surgeon earned about 3400 dollars for exactly 1.5 hours chopping a busted hip joint off the leg and pounding a new metal joint into same. Saw and hammer and done. NEXT. He did 4 or so that day. That's 12000 dollars into his POCKET.Midnightrider909, VantaiTatted, mjd4277 and 1 other person Thank this. -
My high school pipe dream was to run GM (and from the looks of it, I probably couldn't have done much worse,) so I went for engineering, got less than great grades and then failed one course that dropped my GPA below 2.0 and lost (a grant, scholarship, been so long I forgot.) and was "invited" to go to a community college for a semester to get my grades back up. Well I didn't do all that well there either and decided to get a job instead. I was almost out of the money my grandparents had left for me anyway (back before tax laws changed you could leave money to your grandkids instead of your immediate children. So it was common to set up a fund for your grandkids in the 50's-60's)
Anyway, realistic or not at least I had a plan. Most of my college colleagues had no idea what they were doing there and it was basically HS 2.0 with legal drinking.
Only people I think do well in college are people with specialized career paths. For instance my college had one of the best programs in the world for equine care. If you wanted to train horses, you went there and pretty much had a job when you got out. -
im pretty sure those arent the only 2 options in life, i kno people without either that are doing fine

My last year of school was the 6th grade, got taken out of school for family issues and to help raise my 4 siblings. Got my GED in 2013 worked my butt off got my CDL in 2017 I make more money than all the people I know who went to college and got a degree.

Just wait....if the new Dems get there way with FREE college it will really make a "typical" college degree worthless.....on par with a high school diploma or GED....In hiring it's already gotten to the point to differentiate yourself from the throngs you need to have a Masters and or PHD. We hire kids right out of college to train them up to be underwriters....to get it in the front door they have to have a degree, with well above average grades....then we test them ourselves....then if they can make it through all the interviews we start them off around $ 60K with full benefits including matching 401.

ugh that whole free free free ideal is terrible.

Might just be part of the plan.
