Stressful loads

All loads in the USA is JIT that took 2 months to cross a ocean and a month before that to make.

A day is not going to see Rome burn down. They can wait. (I would so love to see them configure Robots to get there yesterday... into horrible weather... /sarc)

Something change since deregulation in the 70's I was just old enough to learn stories about that and retain some of it. But essentially instead of being handed a load to Faraway USA for morning delivery next week and call when empty, it's all computer crap and monitored, not for your well being either. It's for dispatch and quotas to be met. I just as soon as dump all that crap out of the truck and drive a 60's era rig across the USA. It will take a little time, but the load is NOT that hot short of war.

 

I wouldn't worry much about getting fired over something like this. You're a new driver, you're learning. Before they fire you most will call you in for a face to face to explain how serious the situation is and what you have to do if you don't want fired. If you get violent, use drugs/alcohol, disobey a direct order and such you'll be summarily fired immediately. Pretty much anything else gets you formal reprimand before it gets you fired.

 

Then I wouldn't worry about being fired. Dispatchers are human, they get annoyed, frustrated and vent that. If nothing else they have to try to find a way to get that load there on time and that's more work. View it like if you're delayed getting unloaded at your final delivery before home time. It isn't your dispatchers fault, you aren't angry with him, you aren't ready to quit, stuff happens, but you're likely complaining to him all the same.

 

tell dispatch to #### off. load gets there when it gets there. tell them do their job and reschedule your appointment. they work for you not the other way around

 

You will get fired if you roll the truck and never get another job.
As soon as you know you will be late send in a message
If they push you to be unsafe call safety.
Shut down Qualcomm and turn off your phone.
Finish out the year you owe them and move on.

 

Yeah what they said! There's no freight in the world that could stress me out, now driving in inclement weather that can be stressful, that's why you shouldn't do it, period, put the puppy to bed, adios amigo.

 

Don’t stress the load, period. It will get there when it gets there.
