I need your help to try and identify this truck that hit and ran my car on the corner of Johnson ave and Porter ave in Bushwick Brooklyn. (this is probably irrelevant here but I am posting this in a few forums etc)

On Feb 26th at 4:05pm a Blue truck with a white trailer made a sharp turn and sideswiped my parked car. I came out of my job to go to lunch and found my car with the bumper ripped off and the drivers side headlight as well. There were some workers across the street installing a fence and said they saw the whole thing and tried to stop him but he kept going. I filed a police report and I have went around the area to see if I could acquire any surveillance footage, and was successful. I was able to get footage of the incident though only shown in the corner of the frame slightly, and footage prior to the accident of the truck coming down the block. Both tapes are not clear enough for me to clearly see a license plate or a company name. I can almost read the company name which would be ideal so I could at least contact them. I do not have collision insurance so all the damage repairs will have to come out of my pocket unless I can find them and have their insurance cover it. (Cant seem to upload the video file so I will just post the clearest image of the truck I have)

What I do know is that it is a Volvo truck and the only information I can read is on the front drivers side of the trailer the numbers "4836" written vertically, can anyone tell me what those numbers mean and if it is possible to search for them anywhere? I have since learned that parking on the corner of streets around here in an industrial area is a bad idea but I do commend all the drivers that can pull it off around here definitely takes a lot of skill and Im aware this probably happens all the time and the driver may not have even felt the accident because it was the trailer, Im not trying to charge the driver or anything I would just like to have the company or his insurance cover my damage, estimates are looking at $2-3K and I can't afford that.

    Any info or leads helps.

I'm really sorry to hear that, you came to the right place. 1st, don't go by the trailer number, that trailer could be passed around, I can't read the name on the door, but the the truck is a Volvo day cab, meaning, it's probably a local outfit. The truck number would be more useful. If you can get the name off the door, that's a start. Good luck.

Ruff neighborhood; took the bike - left the wheel.

    Edit:
Note to self: bike lock around post and frame, not wheel.

Yeah, it’s a Volvo day cab intended for local operations. Your best bet is to ask any local day cab driver in the area (where the accident happened) to identify the company. They should be able to tell the company name by just looking at it. Your chances of identifying this company are high if you ask the local drivers.

And what appears to be bits and peices of various waste along the sidwalk and in the gutter.

It is a rough block. Where I come from we swept our stoops and tended to the walk better than this.

There is not enough to go on with this truck issue. You might try a few block search via google earth and see if any blue volvos pulling a cut down reefer was snapped within the last year in that area.

If you can check out other videos from the database that you have of the area, that might help. Try Tuesday’s around 4 o’clock. Maybe a window of 30-45 minutes either side of 4 o,clock. It’s a day cab pulling a refrigerated delivery. It’s possible that the truck is on an established route and drives through weekly or biweekly.
Rolls Canardly made a great observation about the crime activity in the area!

Upload the video to dropbox and post the link here. The name on the door is almost legible but need more to work with.

Find out if there are any cold storage facilities in the direction the truck was coming from.

Thank you everyone so far for all the advice, this is an amazing community on here haha, here's a link to the video, I put all the clips I could gather together into one movie. The first shots are clearer and show the truck before the accident coming down the block and the blurry black and white footage is the best I could get of the actual incident, my car is obviously the one in the lower right corner of that angle.

To kind of combine what a couple of other guys have said......there's gonna be a cold storage place nearby. Just drive over there and ask around.
I can identify most long haul guys just by their color and their graphics. Those guys will be able to identify a local guy in about 10 seconds. Good luck.
