You bet I would, as if I owned Schneider and had to have company trucks to get some of the customers they have .I understand full well guys love to hate on the great pumpkin. But imo there isn’t enough difference in most all large companies.Landstar it self is not as good imo as it was when Ranger, inway,Ligon etc were ran as separate companies don’t think they even are paying as high of percentage as they were then

Take this same premise and apply to Schneider

Most guys who have been here awhile know who the agents are who have there own trucks.
However I’d load my own trucks first if I was an agent also.

So to answer the question, Schneider is corporate-centric. They own a majority of the fleet, have huge terminals and overhead. They control what loads go to owner ops, obviously keeping the gravy on corporate trucks.
Landstar is an agent based system. Landstar corporate is just a money and compliance middleman that owns zero trucks, they don’t care who hauls the load. While a small percentage of agents have trucks too, it’s not comparable to what, 85-90% corporate owned like Schneider. There’s far more agents with established bco’s already hauling for them than there are agent owned trucks by a long shot. I’ve been trying to get in good with a certain agent for 9 years now and only get an occasional load. Then again 75-95% of my annual freight comes from one agent and there are plenty of BCO’s that want more freight from them, but I’m first call. They post on the loadboard only when they’ve gone through their call list already.

I wasn’t aware that Schneider even used agents as landstar does

I meant the premise of your saying agents load there own trucks 1st. Schneider will load their trucks 1st also. They’re also a brokerage and Schneider has to bid on freight from their own brokerage.....

landstar you need your own truck but haul their trailer, also you use their load boards to find the loads you want to run....my suggestion go landstar if you have your own truck.

Schneider is much easier for many reasons. Landstar has more freedom. Probably similar income potential from what I've heard.

If you haven't done self-dispatch previously, I suggest you go with Schneider for at least a year or three, then reevaluate what will work best for you.

    Opus and driver81 Thank this.
