If I had to make an educated guess I would say that 75% of drivers use a 10 meter/export radio, not suggesting that they are better, they are just heavily marketed and sold by cb shops and online cb shops. As I have stated before on this forum I primarily use 40 channel Am only cb' s and they work excellent , without any fancy mod' s, or superduper tunes. I have in the past used my share of 10 meter radios and from my experience the extra power ( if on intended frequency) does make contacts that a 4 watt cb is incapable of, not scientific just my opinion, and I do own a 99v2 that I would like to use but wont fit in cb tray.

When you say "heavily modified", what exactly was done? I have a bone-stock AT-6666 and it performs great right out of the box. Maybe you got a lemon

Matched finals with identical gate voltage to improve linearity and eliminate distortion. I'm sure I missed a few things. They all have massive Distortion right out of the box. There's a reason Ridgeline threw his in the garbage can. His antique radios sound better and without the ability to rectify that situation I can totally understand why he would want something that sounds better. I think that would apply to most of us. Single final radios are a lot easier to get quality audio out of unless of course beta matched finals are used.
It's nothing like it was out of the box.

More like having it elevated to the status of a $10,000 Hilberling so that when people hear it they often mistake it for one. Those unsolicited comments from people who have been driving for 40 or 50 years saying they've never heard a radio as crystal clear as mine makes it totally worth it. I don't listen to the youngsters I pay more attention to the older people with all the experience because their opinion means more the older they get and the more experience they get under their belt.

I wouldn't mess with the Master Blaster on your truck. It's a great antenna for normal trucks but your truck is not exactly normal with your antenna bracket dragging on the ground so with something that low you need an antenna that's ridiculously long so the 102 is probably the best for your truck.

Your boy has a heck of a racket going on over there. No wonder he doesnt answer many inquiries. He is happy to make his money from a select few.

    OK if you think so.

Here is what I learned a long time ago about poverty.

Unless you are told you are poor, your life is normal.

The same goes for those 'ten four ... good buddy' cb'er who have been around for 40 or 50 years, they may never heard what a proper radio is like and yours may be marginal.

AND just an FYI ... the hilbering radio I had was OK, I had issue with it on AM, it was great on receive but AM wasn't just right on transmit, and after eight months of screwing with it, it was sold to someone who won't use it on AM. He is happier than a pig in ****** with it, best radio he claims he has ever had. It was replaced with an DDC FPGA SDR with micro-tuned front end which actually sounds great on AM.
