My wife is obsessed with rotators... can I give her your number? LoL. She wants us to buy one. Family business and all. Yeah she has CDL; kids could get theirs intrastate. All that OTHER WORK?!!? Um.. nope. I'd have fun driving forward OR reverse, I miss the 18's..... but would sit out the chaining, strapping, chambering brakes, dropping drive shafts, and all..... i'm old.

I always enjoy helping out when I can. No point in building skills and having experience if you can't pass it on.

It's fun work if you like being by yourself to do your thing rather than having a bunch of clipboard-toting "supervisors" watch your every move. Something I always hated about flatdeck, especially in the steel industry. More people around telling me how to do my job makes me nervous that I might just screw up and get hurt. When I'm by myself with nobody watching, I have the confidence to stay safe.

Trombone trailers have an expansion joint in them for extra-long loads.

I've never pulled one and unless in some time I get bored doing tanks, liquids or solids, I don't see myself ever pulling any kind of oversize, but I hear they are a much more reliable way to move long stuff.

See them a lot in Canada moving oilfield stuff and beams (steel and concrete) but I've not come across them much in the US.

Exactly what I miss not pulling asphalt. I was more often by myself offloading than not. Empty ghost tanks...ahhhh the life.

    Very astute observation.
That's a much nicer way of calling them spoiled brats.
You're a lot better at diplomacy than I am.
